The purpose of the Snowsports/Children’s Instructor is to be personable and possess the ability to relate to and build trust with YC members, families, guests and fellow staff. The goal of the YC Outdoor Pursuits School is to create a safe and fun learning environment encompassed within the unique experience The Yellowstone Club offers through ski and snowboard instruction.

Essential Job Functions:
• Explain and demonstrate technical ski concepts in a safe, fun, and professional manner using a variety of interactive teaching methods based off of age, learning style, and ability of the student within the guidelines of YC Snowsports School and PSIA/AASI.
• Meet and greet members and their guests with in a kind and professional manner.
• Maintain professional attitude and appearance at all times.
• Determine needs of Member/Guest: goals for the day, end of lesson meeting place, lunch location and time, and anything else that may arise.
• Summarize lesson with students and/or parent’s daily; review skills worked on and progress made, invite them to return.
• Assist members and their families and/or guests with transportation of equipment.
• Provide appropriate assistance when loading, riding, and unloading chairlifts.
• Properly sign out for the day’s lesson.
• Communicate all concerns, questions, and scheduling conflicts with Manager/Supervisor.
• Carry a charged cell phone at all times to communicate with ski patrol, snowdesk, supervisors, and other staff as needed.
• Participate in all required training and educational clinics.
• Read and understand all safety and operating policies and procedures. Ask a supervisor/ manager for clarification on any policy or procedure if needed.
• Perform other duties as needed
o Assist in racecourse setup and tear down
o Assist in special events, races, torchlight parade, etc.
o Assist in cleaning and keeping our locker room clean

Other Duties & Responsibilities:
• Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established Club policies, procedures, and standards of service to achieve the overall objectives of this position.
• Meet departmental productivity, organization and consistency standards.
• Maintain a positive and respectful attitude.
• Treat Members, guests, vendors, customers and co-workers with professionalism and respect at all times.
• Maintain privacy of our Members at all time.
• Maintain a clean and neat appearance at all times.
• Communicate regularly and effectively with all employees, supervisors, managers and directors.
• Perform work in a safe and high quality manner.
• Project a favorable image of Yellowstone Club to Members and guests at all times.
• Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
• Nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties, work hours and/or responsibilities for this job at any time.


Required Experience:

Children’s Instructor
•Intermediate to advanced skier
•1+ years’ experience working with children (ages 2-7) in any type of childcare or teaching/coaching/educator capacity.

SnowSports Instructor
•Advanced skier
•1+ years’ experience working with children and adults (ages 8 and up) in any type of skiing/coaching/educator capacity.

Preferred Experience:
• Level I PSIA/AASI; 1+ years of creditable teaching and/or coaching experience in Snowsports or other related field
• Basic knowledge of fundamental skiing/riding concepts and teaching methodology.
• High School diploma, GED or vocational training or job-related course work
• Current CPR and First Aid certification
