Salon Manager


Description
The purpose of the Salon Manager is to provide professional cosmetic services for Members which may include hair services/treatments, cosmetics, and manicures/pedicures for cosmetic and therapeutic purposes as well as recommends individualized hair and nail care regimes/treatments for Members and guests of Yellowstone Club. In addition, the Salon Manager is responsible for ensuring all salon colleagues are trained in conjunction with Yellowstone Club standards and protocols.

• Review and make hair style recommendations to Members based on hair and physical characteristics.
• Provide scalp/hair treatments such as haircuts, styling, chemical services and therapeutic hair and scalp treatments for Members.
• Greet and treat Members and guests in a professional and friendly manner.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the work area and sanitize all tools such as scissors and combs.
• Demonstrate and sell hair care, nail care, barber shop, make-up and other salon products and spa treatments.


Staffing and Human Resources
• Implement ongoing Yellowstone Club skills training to ensure service standards are being upheld.
• Create and maintain staff contracts, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Perform staff evaluation reports with proposed action plans.
• Effectively administer and monitor salon staff scheduling procedures.
• Demonstrate an exceptional level of professionalism for the staff to emulate.
• Create a motivating environment of sincerity, warmth and fun for staff, Members and guests.
• Implement negative staff behavior and dismissal guidelines with follow-through.
• Conduct weekly one-on-one meetings with direct reports.
• Assist Director of Health & Wellness in leading the daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly salon meetings.
• Create the culture of continuous improvements, fun on the job and career growth.

Operations
• Effectively provide product knowledge to salon staff with sales training and trend presentations on a quarterly basis.
• Assist in maintaining and updating all necessary internal and external signage.
• Create ongoing Salon in-house promotions and activities to stimulate sales, staff, Members and guests.
• Involve, engage and motivate Yellowstone Club colleagues to proactively sell and recommend the salon, spa and fitness center.
• Remain up to date on current salon trends.
• Maintain and increase annual salon revenues.
• Ensure the salon retail products are always staged for maximum buyer impact.
• Ensure all state standards are met and Yellowstone Club is in compliance.
• At the beginning of each shift, check all supplies to ensure adequate stock; replenish from the stock room as necessary.
• Maintain and update the YC Salon marketing strategy and ensure a consistent image is being portrayed.
• Assist in developing and maintaining gracious and efficient spa concierge procedures.
• Always maintain the salon, fitness and back of house in a very clean, organized and efficient way.
• Maintain an up to date version of the salon procedure manual and ensure compliance.
• Attend management meetings and convey all relevant information throughout the salon.
• Ensure equipment is maintained in good working order.
• Maintain professional relationships with salon suppliers and providers.
• Minimize or eliminate salon product and retail losses through negligence with monitoring programs.
• Implement a clearly established salon opening and closing procedure.
• Manage salon retail inventory effectively; follow purchasing standards and ensure compliance.

Other Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established Club policies, procedures, and standards of service to achieve the overall objectives of this position.
• Meet departmental productivity, organization, punctuality/attendance and consistency standards.
• Maintain a positive and respectful attitude.
• Treat Members, guests, vendors, customers and co-workers with professionalism and respect at all times.
• Maintain privacy of our Members at all time.
• Maintain a clean and neat appearance at all times.
• Communicate regularly and effectively with all employees, supervisors, managers and directors.
• Perform work in a safe and high quality manner.
• Project a favorable image of Yellowstone Club to Members and guests at all times.
• Assist Director of Health & Wellness in proactively coordinating all daily and weekly schedule and activities within the salon division.
• Proactively maintain daily cleaning activities for the Salon and Spa.
• Proactively coordinate with the Director of Facilities all daily and periodical maintenance of the areas and equipment. (Ensure that preventative maintenance is taking place within the Salon division).
• Support and take over the duties of his/her staff when necessary.
• Perform any or all duties and project as assigned by management.
• Enforce Club safety standards.
• Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
• Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with clients and guests.
• Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities are used often.
• Basic math skills are used frequently.

Experience/Education Required
High School diploma or equivalent plus two years’ experience in a similar environment.

Experience/Education Preferred
Valid MT Cosmetology license
