City Winery New York is looking for top talent as we reopen our flagship location this spring at Hudson River Park. We are seeking USHERS & VENUE HOSTS with an unparalleled passion for hospitality and guest service to join our team!
City Winery, founded in New York City in 2008 by Michael Dorf, strives to deliver the highest-end combined culinary and cultural experience to our guests who are passionate in sharing enthusiasm around wine, music, and culinary arts. We are a unique facility, combining a fully functioning winery with intimate concerts, food & wine classes, private events in a variety of configurations, and fine dining.
Position Summary:
The Box Office Staff includes the roles of Usher, Venue Hosts, and Coat Check. These roles are designated and rotated on a shift by shift basis, depending on the nature of the particular concert/ show’s needs. These roles hold a key responsibility which includes greeting guests with exceptional hospitality as they enter the establishment and escorting them to their designated concert seats.
Minimum Qualifications:
● Strong work ethic, team player, and exceptional guest service skills
● 1+ years as a host, usher, or coat check in a fast-paced, high-volume service environment preferred and/or equivalent relevant experience
● Ability to execute professional guest service experience with composure at all times
● Ability to navigate venue conditions, including tight spaces, dark room and loud environment
● Ability to handle all guests with composure and hospitality
● Polished presentation
● Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build positive relationships with coworkers and guests.
● Aptitude to resolve problems
● Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
● Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
● Ability to perform physical requirements of the role including standing/walking for entirety of shift, bending, pulling, pushing, using stairs, lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds
Overview of Responsibilities:
All Roles:
● Appropriately check guests in upon entrance to the establishment utilizing proper check-in systems and standards
● Greet guests with warmth and hospitality immediately upon entry into our establishment, serving as brand ambassador for City Winery
● Assist in venue set up and breakdown
● Review and familiarize with floor plans and set up
● Support retail merchandise needs, and direct guests interested in retail merchandise to the designated retail representative and/or concierge for purchases
● Alert box office manager/concierge/ manager on duty to any guest inquiries, requests, or dissatisfaction
● Maintain a knowledge of City Winery brand, history, culture, programming, special offers in both in venue and restaurant
● Follow all company policies, procedures, and guidelines including being ready to work at scheduled shift time, in uniform, with neat and presentable appearance.
● Actively support concierge duties as needed
● Perform all other reasonably assigned duties
Venue Host/ Usher
● Appropriately check guests in upon entrance to the establishment utilizing proper check-in systems and standards
● Escort guests from the front door to their specific, assigned seats while conversing in a friendly manner with the guests, no more than 3 steps ahead of the guest
Coat Check:
● Assist guests in storing and retrieving articles of clothing, coats, and items during their visit to City Winery
● Utilize proper coat check ticketing systems and standards and handle with accuracy
● Handle all guest items with care and store neatly
● Collect lost or forgotten items and provide to Manager on Duty after show/ event
● Maintain cleanliness and organization of coat check area
