Under Canvas began in 2009 with the opening of an all-inclusive glamping adventure package and has since grown to include eight luxury glamping resorts and a customized event’s offering, bringing the glamping experience to life anywhere in the country. And we continue to grow and reach our goal of 40 glampsites by 2023.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Facilities Supervisor with Under Canvas, you are responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and repair of buildings, tents, grounds, and associated equipment.

DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Respond in a timely manner as guests report items or any repairs needed to the tents
• Follow all entering and leaving procedures during a guest stay.
• Be respectful of the guest's personal property and privacy
• Set written priorities and key objectives for each member of the maintenance staff
• Ensure successful implementation and take corrective action when needed
• Regularly inspect all areas of camp
• Develop a high level of trust and mutual respect with maintenance staff to reduce turnover and build employee engagement
• Communicate effectively and constantly while building staff skill sets, knowledge, and abilities
• Be visible and available to all staff while maintain an open-door policy
• Counsel with staff as needed to reduce internal conflict and promote well-being
• Conduct performance appraisals and development plans for maintenance staff, correcting and disciplining when needed
• Have regular meetings with staff to ensure the maintenance department is running smoothly and following set standard, set
goals, and improve engagement with staff
• Communicate with all departments about current projects that affect guests and employees.
• Keep the front desk updated on continual repairs happening to a guest's tent, so they can follow up with the guest if they're to ask
• Ensure all company policies are known and followed
• Present an accurate and effective image of successful leadership and delegate appropriately
• Confidently guide and direct maintenance staff
• Must be able to maintain and repair tents, plumbing systems, propane gas water heater, propane heaters, stove pipes, decks,
trailers, vehicles, generators, solar power equipment
• Report any items or issues that may need the Maintenance supervisor's attention
• Keep track and take care of all tools necessary to complete all daily tasks
• Oversee emergency procedures before and after storms, sometimes working all hours to restore services/accommodations for
guests
• Respond to guest, staff, and camp emergencies
• Follow and enforce all health and safety codes set in place by Under Canvas and local/federal governing agencies
• Keep all outside areas in great condition
• Water all necessary plants and trees
• Keep all wood stocked for guests
• Make sure all walking and driving paths are clear from debris and anything that would cause injury to oneself or vehicle
• Maintain the overall outdoor appearance of Under Canvas

REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Ability to walk, stand, bend/kneel continuously throughout your shift
• Ability to lift at least 25lbs
• Knowledge in septic and plumbing
• Ability to work with wood stoves, propane, gas, and electric
• Familiarity with using generators and operating in an off-grid setting
• Manage and implement health and safety policies for guests and staff
• Ability to troubleshoot and make repairs
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Flexibility with changeable working schedule and hours and tasks
• Ability to work for long periods of time outdoors in uncomfortable temperatures
• Know how to manage pest control without it affecting guests and employees
• Extremely organized and motivated, and can multi-task
• Hard-working, eager, flexible, enthusiastic and willing to accept new challenges
