Description
Gato is Chef Bobby Flay’s expression of Mediterranean food, drink and design. Gato combines its roots in NYC with a European sensibility and has a casual approach, a bustling environment and a dedicated passion to cuisine.

This position of Sommelier posses in-depth knowledge and has a great understanding of wine, of which their mastery can be put to good use in a variety of settings.

Skills, Duties and Essential Functions:

• Prior restaurant opening experience strongly preferred
• 2 plus years restaurant experience
• Certification required
• Offer professional and proper service as it relates to the advisement, selection, presentation and service of beverage
• Must be friendly and approachable and able to share his or her knowledge with the staff and guests in a confident and professional manner
• Must be able to recommend wines to patrons and improve profits in order to meet financial target
• Strong knowledge of front of house operations including food, beverages, inventory, food safety, service techniques, and guest interaction.
• May also assist in building and maintaining a wine list fitting the establishment he or she works for: right price, products, and presentations
• Maintain sanitation procedures and organization of work area
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Exceptional organization and leadership skills
• Must be proficient in POS and other restaurant technology
• Dependable and reliable
• Ability to thrive in fast paced environment
• Ability to move about facility and stand for long periods of time and lift up to 25 lbs.
