Description

Gypsy Kitchen (1825 14th Street NW), a new-to-the-area Mediterranean-style restaurant and bar, will be opening on the 14th Street Corridor in Spring 2020. The D.C. outpost, originally based in Atlanta, will span 6,400 square feet and boasts a 1,100-square-foot rooftop deck, two bars, and a capacity of 217 guests.The upcoming Gypsy Kitchen will highlight pan-Mediterranean cuisine with Greek, Moroccan, Indian, Middle Eastern and other regional influences. With a small plate, chef driven menu inspired by travel, Gypsy Kitchen will bring the allure of a nomadic lifestyle to D.C in a way that encourages communal dining and celebration. Summer Ptitim Stew with ramps, snow peas and green curry sauce, Bissara served with golden beets and Aleppo pepper, Tarama accompanied by purple potatoes and kalamata olives and Spinach and Coconut Raita topped with basil seeds will be among Gypsy Kitchen’s diverse range of menu items.
In a impressive aesthetics environment, designed by RD Studio, the sounds and sights of Gypsy Kitchen combine with a craft cocktail and wine program that pulls from influences throughout the Mediterranean to create a stunning guest experience.

Job brief
We are looking for a professional line cook to prepare food to the company's specifications and to set up stations for menu. Line cook duties will consist of assisting the executive and sous chef with their daily tasks. The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to our customer satisfaction and acquisition goals.

Responsibilities
Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
Answer, report and follow managements instructions
Clean up station and take care of leftover food
Stock inventory appropriately
Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

Requirements
Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line chef, restaurant cook or prep cook
Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
