Experienced Craft Bartender 

Want to be part of a brand new cocktail experience in Chicago? José Andrés Group is looking for experienced craft bartenders for Pigtail, our speakeasy style bar underneath Jaleo in River North. 

Essential Functions

Provide guests an authentic bar experience paired with impeccable service in a friendly, enthusiastic, professional, and timely manner. Perform responsible alcohol service; receive and fulfill beverage orders from serving staff or directly from guests. Serve food and beverage items in a friendly, enthusiastic, professional and timely manner. Control guest checks and secure proper payment. Ensure station and table set-ups are complete and perform various cleaning and side duties as assigned by the Manager. Strive to exceed our guests’ expectations and to provide them with nothing less than extraordinary dining experiences. 


·       Ensure cleanliness and proper setup; clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment

·       Check identification of all guests who appear under 30 to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol

·       Proactively limit problems and liability related to guests' excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking, or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated guests

·       Take beverage orders from serving staff or directly from guests

·       Serve wine, and bottled or draft beer following service standards 

·       Mix ingredients to prepare cocktails and other drinks to standard

·       Greet guests within 2 minutes of being seated and introduce restaurant concept and menu to guests. Maintain an active and accurate knowledge of wine, beverage, food and dessert menus

·       Ability to articulate an appealing description of every item we offer. Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods

·       Suggestive sell beverages, bottled water, wine, specials, desserts at every opportunity

·       Ensures each item for guests are rung in the POS system and are delivered in a correct and timely fashion

·       Ensure plates and silver are cleared and changed as needed

·       Presents an accurate check to guest, splits check as requested and accepts payment

·       Reconciles checks and follows all cash handling procedures to ensure accuracy, safety and security

·       Thanks guests for patronage and invites guest to return

·       Speak with guest to ensure satisfaction with food and service, and to respond to complaints

·       Communicate with kitchen staff, management, serving staff, and guests to ensure that dining details are handled properly and guests' concerns are addressed- especially allergy or special requests

·       Perform other duties as requested, such as executing special guest requests and assisting other teammates

·       Ensure the quaility of his/her cocktails and his/her procedures are in line with the stantards of the team

·       Attends seminars, training sesions and bar meetings as scheduled by Head Bartender, TFG Cocktail Innovator or Management

·       Helps maintain recipe master book up to date

·       Sets up the bar and cooperates with Head Bartender to ensure it is ready for service

·       Participates in the R&D part of cocktails creations with the team, Head Bartender and TFG Cocktail Innovator

·       Know/Learn how to operate with culinary equipment, ingredients and techniques, both traditional and modern for the making of cocktails

·       Arrives on time to follow the schedule and performs his job in correct uniform

·       Break down the bar and perfom cleaning by the end of each shift

Follows consistent execution of steps of service.

Skills & Knowledge

Must be able to speak clearly, read, write and understand English to facilitate the communication process.  

Knowledge of appropriate table settings and service ware.

Thorough knowledge of menu items and service procedures.

Ability to take direction and work in a team environment and to work calmly and effectively under pressure.

Must have problem solving abilities, be self-motivated, and organized.

  

Abilities & Working Conditions

This position will spend 100% of the time standing or walking.

Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length.

Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously. 

Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.

May be required to lift trays of food or food items weighing up to 30 lbs. occasionally.

Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.

Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.

Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
