JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for planning, implementing and administering approved human resources policies and programs to systematically meet the labor requirement, provide fair and just wages, maintain harmonious labor-management relations and sustain an effective employee information system for all work units in the company.

Provide various HR support services to all departments in the business unit to help achieve business objectives and sustain business growth through its human resources.  

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Implement and monitor HR strategies and initiatives aligned with business objectives and strategies.
  • Ensure the effective communication of new policies and/or modified policies to all concerned employees.  Monitor the policies to ensure observance at all times.
  • Support all departments in promoting understanding of management concepts, principles and work values/standards of the company amongst all employees.
  • Consult with Management as well as employees to maintain a strong positive working relationship.
  • Cultivate a highly engaged working environment through employee engagement programs and initiatives.
  • Take the lead on employee investigations on major cases.
  • Provide guidance on Performance Management and Talent Management including employee movements.
  • Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations concerning employment. Including,
  • Support HR Services both Total Rewards and Risk Management.
  • Performs other duties/tasks as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education, Training, Experience
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Management, Behavioral or other related course studies.
  • At least 5+ years of experience with HR department.
  • Minimum of 2 years of extensive experience with HR in a generalist capacity.
  • Certified coursework in HR Management, HR Administration particularly in the areas of recruitment, training and development, employee relations, and compensation administration.
Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  1. Familiarity with Provincial and Federal Labor laws, and Human Rights related regulations.
  2. Computer literate with experience in data processing and spreadsheet software.
  3. Good analytical and organizational skills.
  4. Good people skills.
  5. Analytical ability.
  6. Leadership skills.
  7. Demonstrated ability to improve employee morale.
  8. Ability to drive.
Physical and Environmental Elements

Physical Effort/Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will:

  1. Sit for extended periods of time.
  2. See well enough to read/compose reports and use the computer.
  3. Hear well enough to communicate with coworkers.
  4. Climb, stoop, and kneel rarely.
  5. Fine finger manipulation includes writing, typing and using the phone system.
  6. Requires travel from time to time.

Work Environment:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to normal office working conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Tensions and pressures may arise in meeting deadlines and goals.  Eyestrain may occur as a result of continuous computer use.
