KERB is a business that powers other businesses. We focus on the incubation and growth of innovative, independent food businesses. We run brilliant street food markets, workshops, consultancy, bars, a food hall in Central London and have developed a growing, successful corporate catering company, KERB Events Limited.


We are a food-obsessed and a people-first company who believes that everyone with a bit of spark should have the opportunity to ignite it. Be it food entrepreneurs or team members, our mission is to create opportunity and joy through great food, from the KERB up.  

The Understudy has historically been a friendly and exciting craft beer bar situated on the Southbank. With the addition of KERB@Understudy, we now have a food offer to match. The most important thing is how we, as staff, welcome and introduce these offers and the space to our guests.


The National Theatre is an exciting place to work. In the three theatres on London’s South Bank and through touring and National Theatre Live are presented an eclectic mix of new plays and classics from the world repertoire, with seven or eight productions in repertory at any one time. In addition, are offered Platforms, backstage tours, foyer music, publications, education and participation activity, digital resources, exhibitions and outdoor events – an all year round dynamic blend of creative performance.

A strong customer focus is important as you will need to provide excellent service to our customers. Actively promoting the Understudy and KERB to our customers, you will engage with a wide range of people of all ages and backgrounds. They’ll expect the very best from you and so do we.




ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as an ambassador for the Understudy and KERB@ the Understudy by sharing the enthusiasm and passion for the food and drinks offering.

  • Demonstrate consistently high standards of service.

  • Always be warm, welcoming, approachable and take professional pride in how you look and how the bar, the restaurant and the outdoor space works and feels.

  • Have a thorough working knowledge of all our outlets, services and products, combined with the ability to promote and sell.

  • Pre-empt what customers need and provide an informed and tailored level of information and support, always aiming to exceed expectations.

  • Always look to find a solution to a problem and focus on the best outcome for everyone involved.

  • Actively seek customer feedback.

  • Look for ways to improve everyone's experience while visiting the Understudy and KERB@ the Understudy.

  • To undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required by your management or supervisors.

  • A positive and flexible attitude, with the ability to think laterally and willing to problem solve

  • A love of food

  • Outstanding hustle 

  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays
