Assistant General Manager


Description

The Assistant General Manager assists in the direction and/or supervision of MIT’s, employees and food and beverage service activities of Southern Proper Hospitality (SPH) in accordance with company guidelines regarding operating procedures, sales, profitability, and guest and employee relations. He/she is responsible for working with other managers and team members to build and increase sales over the previous year's sales and maintain profitability while ensuring employee and guest satisfaction.

The Assistant General Manager must perform duties in compliance with all applicable sanitation, health, alcohol service and personal hygiene standards. He/she is responsible for the appropriate use of restaurant supplies and equipment to minimize loss, waste, and fraud.

Responsibilities:
1. Primary Responsibilities
a. Under the direction of the General Manager, ensures the restaurant is functional and meets all quality standards on a daily basis, to include, but not limited to: cleanliness, guest service, and execution of food and beverage service.
b. Generate outside sales through event planning, local business outreach, special events, and concierge programs.
c. Handles customer complaints and resolves issues in a diplomatic and courteous manner.
d. Conducts daily inspections to ensure compliance with health, safety, food handling, and hygiene standards.
e. Assist with the entry of vendor invoices and product checks
f. Maintains sales records and tracks cash receipts and daily cash handling throughout the shift.
g. Maintains confidentiality of all propriety company operations, programs, and material information.
h. Maintains quality assurance and compliance with all regulatory requirements
i. Ensures compliance with current laws and policies to provide a work environment free from any harassment and/or discriminatory behavior

2. Supervisory Responsibilities
a. Assist with interviewing, hiring, and onboarding restaurant staff.
b. Assist with the maintenance and submittal of payroll reports.
c. Assists with discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
d. Maintain a reputation of professionalism and adhere to company policies and procedures.
e. Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate improved working relationships.
f. Creates an atmosphere which allows for the respect, safety, and well-being of all coworkers and guests

Required Skills/Abilities:
• Must exemplify a high level of professionalism
• Must have the ability to work in an environment without daily direct supervision, and take initiative and multi-task
• Must have the ability to plan, assign, and direct work
• Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills to include collecting and analyzing data, resulting in fiscally responsible decisions
• Must be able to work the hours dictated by the business and schedule set in place by the General Manager; Weekend, evening, and holiday work may be necessary
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous restaurant experience required
• Management experience preferred
• Successful completion of Food Safety training required with 30 days of hire


Working Conditions:

Works in a climate-controlled and well-lighted environment with a smoke-free policy. Works in a restaurant and throughout the building daily. Is subject to interruptions and noise daily. Occasional traveling by car or plane will be required.
