General Manager


Description

We are looking for an experienced Restaurant General Manager to join our exciting Eldr & The Roof Garden. The General Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the two-floor operation both front and back-of-house including the bar, managing and hiring the team, maintaining standards and ensuring that the business runs smoothly and hits all KPIs. The General Manager will love to inspire her/his surroundings and their enthusiasm will be naturally transferred across their teams. You should be a role model so that the team can look to be inspired and supported by you. The General Manager will be passionate about food, have great organisational skills and be able to work in a fast pace environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the team is keeping the restaurant to the highest possible standards, being effectively organised and properly managed at all times.
  • Responsible for the financial performance and all other KPIs of both floors.
  • Agree on sales and operational targets and expectations with the Operations Director, ensuring that those targets and expectations are achieved through regular monitoring.
  • Oversee the performance management of the restaurant team to achieve the desired results in supporting the business.
  • Ensure the monitoring and maintenance of high-quality food and exceptional standards of customer service.
  • Ensure that all customer service initiatives are in place, ensuring that high standards for quality and customer service are always met.
  • Monitor customer comments and constantly looking for improvements that may be made.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and controls. This will include stock control to ensure wastage levels are within guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, health and safety and security procedures and policies at all times within the restaurant. Report hazards immediately and taking necessary procedures.
  • Train, challenge, motivate, encourage, and provide constructive guidance to the full team.
  • Maintain a competitive awareness of the market by continuously monitoring the competition and then react appropriately to establish and maintain a business advantage.

Essential Skills & Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role within the restaurant industry, preferably Nordic cuisine.
  • A strong understanding of Nordic cuisine and culture is an advantage
  • A strong understanding of Food, Health & Safety including COSHH and HACCP
  • Wide experience in setting customer care standards and resolving customer issues
  • You must have strong communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels and effectively coach and the development of your team
  • Experience in managing and leading your own team
  • Works well in a busy environment
  • Outstanding problem solving and organisational skill
  • Hardworking, self-motivated and dedicated to the position
  • A good understanding of budgeting, forecasting and labour control
  • Good working knowledge of general computer/hospitality systems
  • Attention to detail
  • Being able to tell the story of the menu to team members and customers
