Host/Hostess

Patina Restaurant Group is looking for Hosts/Hostesses who are charismatic individuals and are able to interact with all guests in a professional demeanor. The Host and/or Hostess is responsible for graciously greeting guests upon arrival and escorting them to their table. The representative manages special seating requests and reservations consistent with table availability.

A richly elegant Grand Café in the classic Parisian tradition—set in the iconic, landmark MetLife Building at Grand Central Terminal—Café Centro offers a select menu of French favorites with a Mediterranean twist. Fresh seafood and raw bar specialties, grill selections and seasonal plats du jour are popular choices in this bustling bistro during weekly lunch services and weekend dinners as well as delicious business breakfasts. THE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Graciously greet guests upon their arrival and escort to table in a courteous manner.
• Responsible for accurately taking down reservation bookings and checking table assignments.
• Maintain cleanliness and handling of menus and work stations.
• Manage telephone calls and patrons at all times, relaying messages appropriately.
• Have a complete knowledge of restaurant organization to promote quality service in our restaurant.
• Assist customer concerns and maintain guest satisfaction at all times.

You may be called upon from time to time to perform other duties that may not be included in your job description at management's discretion.

THE REQUIREMENTS:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to navigate and utilize Microsoft Office Suite programs (especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), appropriate point of sale (POS) systems, and any other required operating machines (i.e. online or digital reservation systems).
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays in addition to normal business hours, as needed.
• Possess exceptional communication skills and an ability to anticipate guests needs; an approachable demeanor with guests as well as with employees is essential.
• Ability to effectively communicate with customers in the most polite and professional demeanor with a sense of style and charisma
• Maintain a professional and polished appearance combined with the ability to interact with all types of guests.
• Have passion for fine dining combined with substantial food and service knowledge.
• Must be able to multitask in a demanding, high volume environment.
• The ability to speak a secondary language is convenient but not necessary.
