OUR EXPECTATIONS
We are seeking a seasoned Construction and Design Director to manage multiple construction projects at our Paris Baguette locations. This position will be responsible for overseeing the development of our new cafes while providing continued maintenance to our existing ones. KNOWLEDGE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Accountable for design, budgeting, construction of new cafés, existing maintenance, remodels and expansions.
• Retaining, instructing and managing architects, experts, engineers and general contractors.
• Prepare basic fixtures plans and oversee Architect in preparing construction documents and blueprints.
• Supervise application process for all permits and approvals.
• Coordinate and review construction documents and blueprints.
• Coordinate café handover and rectification of punch list items.
• Establish and adhere to construction timetables.
• Provide and adhere to budgets for all new café remodels and expansions.
• Obtain, negotiate, and accept construction bids and drives the entire build-out process in a fiscally responsible manner.
• Visiting job sites on an as needed basis to ensure on time completion, budget cost control, accuracy and quality of construction activities during new café construction, remodels and expansions.
• Accountable for on-time, accurate and cost-conscious completion of other construction-related projects such as parking lot reconfiguration and in-café carpentry projects.
• Review, authorize, and submit payments from contractors.
• Track costs for projects.
• Responsible for overseeing and scheduling maintenance and repairs for new and existing cafes
• Provide Project Manager duties for multiple new cafes and existing café remodels / expansions per year.
• Ensure construction-related lease requirements and deadlines are met.
• Coordinate landlord and landlord general contractor in construction of lease required items being performed for/on Paris Baguette’s behalf.
• Assist Real Estate group in assessing new site feasibility
• Works closely with other Regional VPs, members of the Operations and Real Estate Departments on a regular basis.
WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE
• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
• Minimum 8 years’ progressive experience in project management and/or construction management in the Retail and Food and Beverage industry.
• Restaurant/food/hospitality operations experience required.
• Strong presentation, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Team player; positive and passionate attitude
• Ability to work flexible schedule as necessary. Requires travel to Cafés and construction sites via airplane or auto. (Note: Travel several nights away from home per month is typical.)
• High sense of integrity and ownership.
• Having a “feedback is a gift” mentality. Always willing to learn and accept feedback.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills - Superior attention to detail and communication skills.
• Comprehensive Project and Construction Management skills -ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Familiarity with National Building and Fire and Accessibility Codes.
• Familiarity with leases and lease terminology.
• Strong understanding of refrigeration system design, operation and maintenance.
• Auto-CAD working knowledge preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• Able to lift up to 25 lbs.
