We had one of those hair-brained ideas at the start of the year to ensure that our pizza-loving customers were still able to get their pizza fix through the lockdown and Pizza in the Post was born. It turns out that Pizza in the Post is actually a thing and now we have our very own production unit where our Pizza Kits are lovingly made with all the Neapolitan know-how, packaged and distributed, with a deliveroo hub, and we are on the lookout for someone to come and manage it.
Ideally, we would like to find a general product operations pizza-loving manager (ok the job title might need some work!). In all seriousness, we need someone to come and join us, with some specialist skills, to manage, own and develop this new side of the Pizza Pilgrims business and build the future for Pizza in the Post, working alongside our founders Thom & James.
Located in Herne Hill, SE London the Production/Product Operations Manager would take the lead. We will be leaning on your experience to be able to come in and support the day-to-day management of Pizza in the Post from the team, the H&S, organisation, marketing, packaging, distribution…it’s a hands-on role but also there is lots of scope for it to grow to something much bigger.
What might the day to day/ week to week look like
you ask?
- The site manages the whole cycle for
Pizza in the Post from order to production to dispatch, so it’s great if you
have had experience in working in a similar environment. We also have a Deliveroo hub that needs to be
managed to ensure our local delivery area also receives great pizzas every
time.
- You will have accountability and
ownership of the P&L for the whole site so you will need to understand all
costs, profits, controls, and other commercial aspects.
- We have a team in place, that have
come from our Pizzerias so it is ok if you don’t have that Neapolitan know-how,
but we need someone with experience of working in Production to take the lead, help
us get organised and push the business forward.
Being part of the Pizza Pilgrims family, you will be able to pull on the
resources of the wider support team when needed.
- You will be looking at ways in which
the processes and procedures can be adapted to suit the needs of the business
now and in the future. You will also
find opportunities to drive sales through new distribution channels and
partnerships.
- Team happiness is key. So you will be responsible for making sure
our team are engaged and have the right skills to succeed, supporting them
every step of the way and ensuring the unit has the great PP vibes.
- Be responsible for the H&S of the whole unit from the Deliveroo kitchen, to prep areas, storage and equipment.
- We are only as good as our last pizza
so your attention to detail needs to be spot on, whether that’s the pizzas
flying out on Deliveroo or the kits that your team is putting together.
- Have a proactive approach and love a
bit of problem-solving. We will be
honest, we haven’t had a production unit before so we will work through the
solutions together.
- Driving things forward, alongside our
founders, you will be great at looking at the bigger picture and strategically
planning build the future of Pizza in the Post ensuring it can deliver.
Some of your superpowers might include:
- Already experienced in a high-volume
food production unit
- Being quite organised and able to
plan well
- Great attention to detail
- Having that entrepreneurial,
commercial, go-getting attitude
- Like the analytical side of the
business and can process data and make decisions based on these facts.
- Can keep calm when it's busy and under
tight pressures
- Loves to roll their sleeves up and
get stuck in
- A natural leader with great
communications skills
- Ideally, you will have already have L3
or L4 H&S quals as the standards here need to be maintained. Always.
