Description
Santa Monica Proper is seeking a skilled and creative pastry cook. A seamless merger of historic retrofit and new construction, the 271-room Santa Monica Proper hotel features interior design by international style icon Kelly Wearstler, multiple dining options by local area culinary stars, a rooftop lounge and swimming pool, 8,000 square feet of meeting and event space, and almost 7,000 square feet of ground-floor retail.

The pastry cook's responsibilities include preparing quality pastry items such as breakfast items, pastries, desserts and baked goods that complement and enhance our menu. Assist throughout the hotel in outlets including the Rooftop Lounge (Calabra), Lobby Lounge (Palma), Banquets and In-Room Dining.

Responsibilities
• Adhere to set recipes and taste test for quality assurance
• Ensure all pastries are uniform and up to standard
• Adhere to all sanitation, safety, and food preparation law
• Inspect the cleanliness and working conditions of all tools, equipment, and supplies


Qualifications
• 1+ years of kitchen experience preferred
• Proficiency using kitchen equipment and appliances
• Enjoys working in a collaborative kitchen
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment
• Excels in task delegation and kitchen station management
• Clear and effective communicator
• Extremely organized with high attention to detail
• ServSafe Required

Education
• High School diploma required
• Pastry Arts or other culinary certification preferred
