Description
Santa Monica Proper is seeking a motivated, service-driven Executive Chef to oversee the Heart of House at our flagship property on L.A.'s West Side. A seamless merger of historic retrofit and new construction, our 271-room hotel features interior design by international style icon Kelly Wearstler, multiple dining options by local area culinary stars, a rooftop lounge and swimming pool, and 16,000 square feet of meeting and event space. 

In partnership with the Hotel General Manager and Director of Food & Beverage, this key role is responsible for the culinary operations within two high-volume restaurants, bars, banquets and In Room Dining. 

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all culinary operations within the property 
• Provide guidance and direction for day-to-day kitchen operations
• Direct oversight of the hiring, training, coaching, development, and discipline for culinary staff
• Plan and manage the procurement, production, preparation, and presentation of food in the hotel in a safe, sanitary, and cost-effective manner
• Understand all job requirements for culinary team and ensure ability to perform duties as necessary
• Ensure compliance with food handlers and sanitation standards
• Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, procedures, and Brand standards
• Complete daily, weekly, and monthly management administrative duties including operations reports, financial documentation, Human Resources/Colleague paperwork, Standard Operating Procedures, safety and sanitations checklists, and ordering and inventory documentation

Qualifications:

• Minimum 6 years of culinary experience in a similar Leadership position
• Strong leadership skills to manage and motivate the team
• Excellent organizational and planning skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Great financial awareness
• Accountable and resilient
