As the Controller, you will be a key leader within the Finance team, overseeing the company’s financial operations, reporting, and compliance efforts. This role requires a deep understanding of restaurant or multi-unit business finances, an eye for detail, and the ability to support a growth-oriented environment. The Corporate Controller will ensure the integrity of financial information, support budgeting and forecasting, and manage a team to streamline our accounting functions.


ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Oversee all aspects of the company’s accounting and financial reporting functions.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Prepare and present financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses for executive leadership.
  • Establish, monitor, and enforce internal controls to protect company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
  • Support the budgeting process across all stores.
  • Manage cash flow and working capital to support growth and operational needs.
  • Coordinate external audits and act as the primary liaison with auditors and regulatory authorities.
  • Develop and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to provide financial insights and recommendations on strategic initiatives.
  • Implement and optimize accounting software systems and ensure seamless data flow across platforms.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a leadership role; experience in a multi-unit, hospitality, or restaurant environment highly preferred.
  • Candidates based in the DMV area (Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia) are strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Proven experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to communicate effectively with team members and executive leadership.
  • Proficiency with accounting software; experience with Sage, Toast & MarginEdge systems a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
