Description

As an Engineer/Maintenance Associate you will be responsible for maintaining the general condition of the property with regards to all aspects of basic electrical, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical and painting work. You will complete maintenance request work orders from all departments on a timely basis.  You will participate in the preventive maintenance program for all-building equipment and rooms and complete other special projects assigned periodically by the Director of Engineer.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform general repairs and services in all maintenance related disciplines, including but not limited to; carpentry, mechanics, plumbing, electrical, finish work, HVAC/refrigeration etc.

  • Prioritize work orders through urgent requests and established hotel area down times in order to minimize inconveniencing guests.  Effectively interact with department managers is required.

  • Respond to guest room calls as required.

  • Complete any and all assigned preventative maintenance procedures.



Other:

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.  Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.


Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.  In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.


Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Menin rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotel’s facilities.  Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.



SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel:


  • Adhere to hotel safety standards.

  • Perform other duties and handle projects as assigned by Manager.

  • Assist other departmental craft workers as required.

  • Perform all duties required as Fire Alarm Response Team.

  • Participate in OSHA/Safety programs within the hotel through awareness in every day job functions and participate on the Hotel’s Emergency Evacuation Team.



SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Must be able to work well with all members of the Engineering Department and all other members of the Hotel Staff.

  • Must promote a cordial and caring attitude toward all other department heads.

  • Highly motivated self-starter.

  • Experience in all phases of mechanical/electrical/plumbing systems.

  • Appropriate technical schooling

  • Blueprint reading.

  • Ability to communicate with hotel guests


QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Education

High school or equivalent education required.


Experience
