Silver Lyan – nestled in the lower level of Riggs Washington DC, in the bank building’s former vault – is the first bar outside of Europe from Mr Lyan. Travelling the world, he sources the weird and wonderful, using bespoke techniques and experimenting with ingredients to develop new ways to capture flavour. Mr Lyan and his highly-accoladed team use unique ways of looking at the world to create drinks that you probably won’t find anywhere else. Silver Lyan draws its inspiration from D.C.’s incredible depth of culture, food, drink, people and history to offer a bar that celebrates the notion of exchange – as well as a damn good time.

 

We are searching for an experienced and passionate Bar Prep Cook to  help reopen Silver Lyan. Silver Lyan Culinary Lead is a unique role for a passionate person that’s willing to blend bar knowledge and culinary acumen.  This person should maintain positive colleague interactions in a friendly manner following Riggs Hotel high quality standards.

 

Candidates must be able to thrive in a non-stop environment, have an open mind and a great sense of humor, and love finding solutions. The ability to be adaptable, calm under pressure, resourceful and efficient is in your DNA.

Core Essential Functions

  • Skillfully use hand tools or machines needed for work. Measure, cut, or otherwise work on materials or objects with great  precision.
  •  Prep products for the bar according to program specifications
  •  A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures
  • Perform all other duties requested by General Manager
  • Able to manage high volume of production with graciousness and efficiently.

This position requires the following knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Hotel Experience is not required – Fun and welcoming personality is a MUST
  • Positive interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional Organizational skills
  • Flexible schedule is required to meet the needs of the business
  • Knowledge or high service standards. Forbes standards knowledge preferable.
  • Candidate should be able to perform all basic cooking skills.
  • Must be able to "prep" food/beverage products, using standardized preparation techniques
