Guided by our MAGNA CARTA (FREEDOM TO WORK. FREEDOM TO PLAY.PERMISSION TO EXPLORE), we are seeking a very special person to be General Manager at our Westwood SpireWorks™ location. We define SpireWorks™ as Döner American Style; creating a cultural melting pot of flavors for an exploratory palate. SpireWorks™ is a build your own fast casual restaurant concept centered around vertically spit roasted meats (called Döner), fresh baked bread and fun / foodie toppings replicating rich and memorable flavors from around the globe. We opened our first restaurant in the heart of Westwood Village in 2016, our second in Eagle Rock earlier this year and are growing quickly to bring this unique, dynamic, delicious and inherently healthy concept to traveling foodies everywhere. Here is what we are looking for as a General Manager.
• 3 years previous restaurant management experience in a full service and/or Fast Casual environment. AAS or bachelor’s degree, hospitality management preferred
• Familiarity with a P&L and course correct as needed
• Familiarity with Federal and California labor laws and regulations preferred
• Active ServSafe Management Certification
• Intense focus for details including food quality, presentation, cleanliness of restaurant from the outside to the back door.
• Strong decision making ability under pressure
• Excellent Communication Skills – speaks clearly and gives good direction, listens well
• Warm, friendly, outgoing demeanor
• Dependable & trustworthy – treats everyone equally, shows no favoritism
• Open –minded attitude to learn and adapt – understand what makes us great and play to win
• Dedication to positive guest relations with the ability to turn a bad situation into a great one
• Computer software skills (POS, Excel, Word, Ctuit, Hot Schedules, harri.com, on-line, cloud-based onboarding and other programs as they become available)

Here is what you'll be responsible for:

• Actively creates and upholds an upbeat, positive and dignified work environment that promotes the SpireWorks standards, values and culture. Encourages an open dialogue: up, down and sideways. Fosters an environment of team work and cooperation
• Responsible for maintaining all stages of the hiring process including recruiting, interviewing, onboarding and training. Maintains staffing levels within the restaurant. Monitors and ensures that initial training as well as subsequent ongoing development of all crew members meets SpireWorks standards
• Coaches, counsels and disciplines as needed the crew members through development discussions, crew meetings and constant communication and holds authority to suspend or terminate a crew member for serious violations of company policy
• Responsible for helping to create, communicate and enforce evolving company priorities
• Generates timely performance evaluations as well as corrective actions and discipline
• Communicates effectively with all members of SpireWorks using honesty, candidness and a genuine compassion for people
• Builds and maintains a guest connection to the brand. Makes sure that this connection stays new and fresh with each visit
• Motivates the crew to provide a hospitality-driven, guest-first mentality
• Responsible for reaching out to the community to build business through fostering positive community relations
• Maintains operations of the restaurant including back of house duties, frontline operations, guest lobby and catering to ensure all areas comply with SpireWorks standards
• Purchase food, beverage and operating supplies and ensures food quality control within the restaurant by following and enforcing standard procedures around cleanliness, sanitation, food preparation, time and temperature controls, food storage and equipment maintenance. Calls for repairs as needed.
• Ensures that all employees follow precise recipes, food safety procedures and safe work habits to establish a secure and healthy environment. Regularly tastes food products for quality assurance.
• Responsible for food cost and constantly reviewing portion quantities during preparation and minimizing waste without compromising the needs of the business
• Constantly training new and existing crew members to maintain performance standards
• Create weekly schedules and adjust as needed on a daily, shift by shift basis
• Sets and shares realistic, weekly sales projections to achieve budgetary goals by scheduling labor cost and purchasing of food and supplies to meet objectives
• Analyzes weekly financial results by identifying patterns and opportunities creating plans of action based on the findings in a timely and effective manner
• Writes schedules that balance impeccable guest service and fiscal responsibility
• Responsible for maintaining systems around cash handling procedures and loss prevention standards to promote profitability and safety
• Responsible for all aspects of restaurant inventory control including ordering, receiving, reconciling and counting
