Description
Located in the heart of midtown Manhattan, The Wayfarer is an American Grille serving fresh takes on classic dishes in an airy and sophisticated setting. A bi-level restaurant, featuring a second floor lounge and three private dining rooms, The Wayfarer often has many private events, along with a regular breakfast, lunch and dinner service.
We are looking for a FOH Dining Room Manager to help the GM to oversee the entirety of the location and make sure that the restaurant is set up for success every day. We will require the Managers to adhere to these position requirements:
Restaurant Operations:
Monitor daily sales reports and cash flow
Oversee comp/void reporting
Schedule all FOH employees and monitor overtime
Oversee tip reporting
Daily walk through to inspect restaurant
Service:
Be physically present on the floor during service to ensure service standards
Guide, direct and train service staff; observe the flow of guests, and provide assistance when necessary
Personally involve self with the service of VIP tables
Be aware of any bottlenecks or overwhelmed service areas and assist as necessary
Make sure that all needed supplies are on the floor at all times, including china, glass, linen, and other various supplies
Assist Maitre'D in expediting smooth seating and guest satisfaction/special requests
Communicate with kitchen regarding pace of service, special needs, and general guest satisfaction
Assist in wine sales and service
Staff:
Hire and Train the staff to have comprehensive knowledge of the menu, wine list and service standards
Observe staff appearance before and during service and take action as necessary
Discuss any service procedures that need addressing
Enforce disciplinary actions, as needed
Conduct training and staff meetings as needed to clearly communicate expectations to team
Maintain a healthy, happy and productive work environment for employees to foster loyalty and dedication
Communication:
Be aware of any conflicts between staff and work to solve these problems
Provide wait staff with any relevant information during staff meetings
Handle customer correspondence as necessary
