James Beard award winning duo Chef April Bloomfield and Restauranteur Ken Friedman have arrived in Southern California. Their partnership began over 13 years ago with the iconic West Village restaurant, The Spotted Pig. Since they have opened The Breslin, The John Dory Oyster Bar, Salvation Taco and White Gold Butchers; and in San Francisco, Tosca Cafe.

Housed in the former iconic Spanish Shopping Court on Sunset Boulevard, this is Chef Bloomfield's first Los Angeles outpost, and it represents a concerted effort to translate her talents to a new environment. The Hearth & Hound reflects the casual sophistication of LA; inviting guests in with warmth and a genuine sense of hospitality. Think produce-centric cooking, an open kitchen built around a giant hearth featuring fish and foul, easy-drinking vins de soif, market-driven craft cocktails sipped on a gorgeous terrace....you get the idea.

Position Overview:

The Position involves contact and presents the first point of contact for all guests. Works in cohesion with the reservations team, management, and chefs to execute a smooth seating of each service. Ambassador of culture and spirit of the space and all around greeter. Can-do attitude and problem solving skills are a must.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Welcome people into our space and make them comfortable as if they were entering our own home.
2. Work with current reservation system to plot out reservations, events, special requests, VIPS, and large parties. Work with the host team to seat guests efficiently and work with the service team to communicate all guest information and needs.
3. Cordial and positive. Great communication skills. Make knowledgeable, informed and articulate recommendations and suggestions regarding all menu items. Able to offer information on all menu items, beverage items, advise guests with approximate time frame for preparation, delivery and answer any other general guest questions in person and over the phone.
4. Team player. Able to stay in constant communication with all FOH members and chef about the status on tables, turn times, and incoming parties. Able to gage and pace timing of seatings not to overwhelm any team members.
5. Assist in running food and beverages and help in coordinating and setting tables based on the needs of the guest orders. Assist back server by bussing tables when needed.
6. Responsible for ensuring all transferred tabs among guests are being moved to the right servers and bar team when moving guests.
7. Take ownership within reason of any special guest request or guest complaints and if needed refer to Manager on Duty.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Basic Expectations: This position is one of very high guest contact and position profile. All established standards of excellence must be maintained at all times and every effort must be made to meet and/or exceed all guest expectations or requests.

Language Skills: Must have good working knowledge of the English language - ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Physical Requirements:
Constant standing and walking throughout shift
Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
Clean appearance and dress.
