Description
Job Title: Baker
Reports to: Operations Manager/Management
Classification: Full-time, hourly pay
Starting wage: $13.00 - $16.00+ hour + tips
Vice City Bean started in 2015 and has grown to be a Miami specialty coffee leader with 3 locations in the city. We value and support our teams, the backbone to our company. Vice City Bean has current openings for bakers to join our cafe team at our location at The Citadel Food Hall. Our bakery team is responsible for the preparation of all our bakery items for each of our 3 locations, as well as the direct menu for this location. Our team prepares morning hot savory items to order as well as a line of delicious baked goods, including: loafs, pies, cakes, cookies and more. Most importantly, you need to take pride in your work, support your team and provide genuine service to our customers. If you love baking and preparing great food, we would love to meet with you.
Advancement opportunities are available, including a LEAD BAKER position for the right candidate.
Typical shifts
7am - 2:30pm
8:30am - 3:00pm
1pm - 8pm
Ideal candidate will :
- have 1+ years in bakery/pastry
- have a passion for food and an understanding of coffee shop food trends
- take pride in producing quality products and following standards
- be a self-starter, understand the importance of meeting production schedules and time management
- able to follow written and verbal direction
- have good communication and customer service skills, you will be interacting with customers
- weekend availability required.
Requirements:
- must have or obtain a Florida Food Safety Certificate within 30 days of starting position.
- understanding of the operation of major kitchen/bakery equipment: ovens, blenders, mixers, scales.
- basic computer skills and reading / writing: following recipes, updating recipes, inventory reporting, etc
- team player, outgoing personality
- ability to lift, push/pull, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds. You’ll be handling bags of flour, sugar, etc.
- ability to stand and walk for long periods of time. You’re on your feet the majority of the day.
- ability to taste, smell and see. You will be evaluating products and tasting to ensure quality.
