The Watergate Hotel is situated within walking distance of the best the city has to offer.
General Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist the Director of Engineering in setting up the department during the pre-opening phase of the hotel; assist with writing departmental SOP’s as directed.
• Participate in development and implementation of engineering building systems and maintenance budget including energy cost and consumption and Capex.
• Oversee total asset maintenance management and repair.
• Oversee staff performance of engineering department.
• Coach, counsel and train departmental staff; assist in the onboarding of all new Engineering associates; provide continuous training on systems and protocols whenever possible.
• Develop and implement the Preventive Maintenance programs based on The Watergate Hotel guidelines.
• Assist in the management of the annual CAPEX plan and assist in the budgeting for all engineering aspects.
• Oversee the strategic direction of general projects related to the enhancement of the hotel. The project management will cover the areas of planning, administration, implementation and evaluation of financial results of project.
• Engineering contractors’ selection and documentation.
• Telecommunication system upgrades or enhancements.
• Annual maintenance of the contingency systems that support IT&T equipment and systems.
• Annual testing and conformance of emergency power systems.
• Training and demonstration on various systems such as key system for rooms, A/V equipment, lighting system, and temperature control system etc.
Requirements:
Successful candidates will possess the following skills and expertise:
• A minimum of 2 years in engineering studies such as Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental etc.
• A minimum of 5 years in engineering in the hotel environment (luxury hotel experience is preferred).
• Must possess excellent, demonstrated knowledge of major building systems.
• Must possess ability to conduct training of basic engineering systems.
• Must be detail oriented, with superior organizational skills in order to coordinate multiple tasks with ease and efficiency.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule that will include early mornings, late nights, weekends and holidays.
• Must possess excellent communication skills with fluency in English required.
• Must be physically able to meet the demands of the job including walking or standing for extended periods of time while on shift; lift/push/pull/carry 50+/- lbs.; must be able to work in varied work climates including outdoor, coolers, freezers, etc. when needed.
