Assistant Brewer

Description
Do you want to be involved in the most exciting new brewery in Britain? Then read on!

Wells & Co. is reinventing itself with a brand new 30000 hl/annum state of the art brewery with bar, restaurant and visitors centre on the edge of Bedford. Opening late spring, this is a perfect opportunity to get involved in an amazing project.

The Role:

Reporting to the Lead Brewer, you will be part of a small team responsible for all aspects of the beer production process and day-to-day operations of the brewery. Naturally, you will spend a great deal of time on the production floor but that’s not to say the role won’t involve many different tasks.

Aside from the day to day routine there will be many other duties to get involved with. Evaluating raw materials to ensure they meet the specific quality, developing new recipes and beer to meet market demand, assisting in the packaging operations, and not to mention being involved in showcasing the quality of what you are producing via guided brewery tours to both the public and our customers.

What we are looking for:

o A passion for the Brewing industry and a love for Beer!
o Relevant degree in Brewing, Chemistry, Microbiology or Food Science combined with experience in a brewery
o Hands-on practical approach. Engineering and mechanical skills will be useful to maintain, fix and install equipment
o A flexible work ethic! You will be required to work shifts across 7 days and working hours will change subject to schedules and production issues
o An entrepreneurial mind that can create new and exciting recipes to produce award winning beers!
o A confident communication style, as you will be liaising with various stakeholders daily
o Computer literacy and technological skills are key as you will undertake ongoing record keeping, project management and resource management

What’s in it for you?

• Salary subject to experience + bonus
• 25 days annual leave + bank holidays
• Private medical health care
• Group personal pension plan
• Life assurance
• 25% off dining and retail discounts
• Career progression

Not only do we have a passion for our brands, but also for our people. At Wells, you will not be a small cog in a big wheel, but a valued part of the team where you will make a difference every day.
