Bar Manager

Description
We are looking for an experienced and diligent Bar Manager to assist with the day to day running of our 70-seated restaurant in Soho.

The Restaurant
Serving innovative & classic Asian dishes, XU Teahouse & Restaurant is reminiscent of the original social clubs and the luxury dining rooms of 1930’s Taipei, offering a unique journey into Taiwanese culture.
The menu reflects the quality of locally-sourced ingredients, including seafood from Scotland and beef from Cornwall. To ensure the quality of our dishes everything is produced in-house, including baking, fermenting and curing. The restaurant is situated over two floors: ground floor tea rooms and Mahjong rooms and the first-floor dining room.
Giles Coren of The Times has declared Xu’s food “mesmerising”, while Marina O’Loughlin, restaurant critic for The Guardian, declared it “quite simply, gorgeous”. XU also received “Menu of the Year” at the 2018 Cateys

The Benefits
The successful Bar Manager will receive:
• 50% off dining across JKS Restaurants
• Enrolment in School of Bao, a series of workshops, training sessions, field trips and the Taiwan Travel Club
• Three team nights our per year, awesome annual party.
• Annual 'No managers at home' away weekend
• Enrolment into WSET
• Tech and Cycle Scheme;
• Pension, private health cover and childcare scheme;
• Excellent career development opportunities.

What you’ll learn:
• You’ll receive a personalised development plan including a clear progression route. We value internal growth and see this an important aspect;
• We encourage staff to participate in XU’s field trips, learning and interacting with our suppliers;
• Sake, Spirits, Wine & Beer tastings and talks.

The Role
As Bar Manager, you be responsible for providing a warm and genuine welcome to our guests, delivering an exceptional standard of service and memorable customer experience, and you will continually lead and inspire the front of house team to do the same
If you have the following, then we want to hear from you:
• Prior experience as a Bar Manager within a quality, high volume restaurant & confidence to host a service.
• Solid understanding of BOH stock systems & stock take.
• Proven ability to lead, train and motivate a team;
• Willingness to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in;
• A creative approach with impeccable attention to detail;
• Passion for drinks and hospitality, along with the eagerness to continually learn;
• The desire to develop your career within an ambitious restaurant group;
• Good knowledge of or experience in Asian cuisine and culture is a bonus!

The Group
XU is also part of the JKS Restaurants’ group, which currently includes Michelin Star-awarded restaurants, Trishna, Gymkhana, Kitchen Table and Lyle’s; as well as Bubbledogs, Hoppers, Bao, Sabor and Flor. There are ambitious plans for growth, with the opening of further restaurants across all ends of the market and types of cuisine, both imminently and over the coming years, making this is a very exciting time to join the team.
