A new opportunity within the events team at Petersham Nurseries - Events Assistant:
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, organised individual with excellent customer service and communication skills both written and verbal, to assist in planning, coordinating and the logistics of the large variety of events held here. 
These include workshops, small functions in our private glasshouses and large events that take over the whole nursery as well as supporting on offsite events. 
Principal Accountabilities The role includes, but is not limited to: 
  • Restaurant Events & Private Hires  
  • Proactively encourage and seek out opportunities of new business.  
  • Planning, customer liaison, organisation and delivery of events in support of the Operations and General Manager and Heads of Departments & Florists 
  • Includes producing function sheets, liaising with the various departments, coordinating and scheduling actions required. 
  • Assisting with the financial process from estimates and quotations through to final payments and profit and loss reviews 
  • Regularly updating standard Terms and Conditions and risk assessments Workshops – Cooking, Green, Cellar 
  • Assist with the coordination of annual events calendar liaising with various departmental heads and synchronising overall annual schedule. Responsible moving calendar across to outlook. 
  • Assist in drafting event spiels, setting appropriate ticket pricing, dates/ timing and working with the marketing team to publicise the event. Managing PN Eventbrite account – Upload events as and when required. 
  • Support department heads with development, production and delivery of events from proposal right up to delivery, includes budgeting and timescales.  
  • Manage guest list and any event set up support asked of those hosting. 
  • Liaising with admin receptionist and leading on customer communication regarding events. 
  • Feedbacking back any P&L costs to finance Other • Weekly communication of upcoming events, feedback, including numbers, logistics via email. 
  • Attend and host weekly events meeting to brief HODs on the week ahead. 
  •  Personal Contribution 
  • Superb customer service • Excellent communication skills. • Organisation and efficiency are key. • Excellent working knowledge of and proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel • Excellent copy writing and proofreading skills, and a keen eye for detail. • Highly organised, with an ability to work to deadlines, and to plan and prioritise short and long-term tasks effectively. 
  • A proactive approach to getting things done and uses initiative to solve problems without the need to escalate.
