Description
At leaf HOSPITALITY we are seeking a Custer Financial Controller to join the team and lead lead the finance function across the following hotels within our portfolio:

  • Stanley House Hotel & Spa - Country-house luxury hotel located in the heart of the Ribble Valley countryside (54 acres) in Mellor, 30 guest rooms, Fred's Brasserie, spa with thermal cabins, a hydrotherapy pool, and treatments,  six meeting rooms with the ability to host up to 200 delegates for larger-scale events.
  • Hampton by Hilton Blackburn - Modern mid-scale hotel located conveniently off Junction 6 of the M65, 152 guest rooms, with a conference room comprising of 57 sqm.
This role can be based in either Stanley House Hotel & Spa or Hampton by Hilton Blackburn, but regular travel will be expected across both properties within the cluster, so ideally you will be within a commutable distance of both properties.

What we're looking for:

We are seeking a candidate who has ideally worked in a leading finance position within the hospitality industry. Our Cluster Financial Controller will be personable, accountable, and demonstrate natural leadership abilities. You will enjoy coaching and mentoring department managers to increase their financial acumen and awareness. You will have sound knowledge of self-accounting practices, and will be able to demonstrate clearly that you have the capability to manage and lead the finance department. 

Day in the life of: 

You will be line managing a small finance team daily across the two hotels to deliver timebound actions daily, weekly, and monthly. You will balance your role by acting reactively to daily tasks as well as leading with a strategic view working closely with the hotel General Managers and central management team to deliver to the hotel's and cluster financial KPI's. You will lead the cluster hotels financial cost control initiatives and take an active leadership role in instilling robust practices among both hotel operational teams. 

Some of your ongoing tasks will include budgeting, forecasting, payroll, cost controls, accounting and reporting. Whilst you will receive the support and mentorship from a Group Finance Manager, you will be self-sufficient with your team in fully completing the hotels finance duties including all the tasks listed within this job description. 

Example key responsibilities: 

  • Support the General Managers in leading each hotel's annual budget process. 
  • Ongoing cost controls, monitoring and auditing of processes and procedures. Providing coaching and training to management teams on cost control activity.
  • Support the production of a monthly capex report. 
  • Management of payroll. 
  • Self-accounting processes. Responsible for the management accounts and the P&L, balance sheet and ledger control. 
  • Supporting the accurate forecasting of business. 
  • Period end reports to be completed on time for all hotels. 
  • Manage the purchase ledger and ensure invoices are entered onto the system regularly so suppliers are paid on time. 
  • Line management of the finance team and their ongoing engagement and development. 
  • Coaching and mentorship for the hotel's management team and rising supervisory team members.
