As a Chef and member of our management team, you are a guiding light of the restaurant. Guest experience—alongside product quality, sustainability, and responsible cost control—is central to how we measure success at 54 Mint.
Your primary focus is to help uphold our standards, policies, and procedures while supporting the overall health of the business. Duties and responsibilities may evolve as the needs of the restaurant grow.
Responsibilities include:
Support the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, including prep, line, and production
Collaborate with the Executive Chef, ownership, and management to create and update menus that highlight seasonality, local sourcing, and Italian culinary traditions
Assist with BOH scheduling to ensure appropriate staffing levels based on forecasted business needs; support day-to-day adjustments as business levels change
Monitor food costs, labor targets, and inventory with an eye toward sustainability and efficiency
Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive kitchen culture that supports team morale, growth, and accountability
Support staff oversight, including punctuality, uniform standards, and training in recipes, execution, food safety, and kitchen procedures
Ensure team members are provided all required meal and rest breaks in compliance with California and San Francisco labor laws
Participate in departmental meetings and maintain timely communication with leadership during scheduled work hours
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization throughout kitchen and back-of-house areas; support compliance with all local and state health and safety regulations
Monitor general kitchen and BOH equipment and facility upkeep, reporting maintenance needs as they arise
Uphold company values, policies, and standards of professionalism
We encourage every Chef to bring their personality to the kitchen and lead by example, while aligning with the clear expectations outlined above.
What we’re looking for:
Prior kitchen leadership experience
Strong organizational and communication skills
A collaborative leadership style
Passion for Italian cuisine and hospitality
