Run iconic Scottish events end-to-end for one of the country's most ambitious new event hospitality operators.
Apex Bars & Events is hiring Event Managers for the 2026 season. Event Managers carry full operational accountability for an Apex event from contract handover through to post-event reconciliation. You're the senior Apex presence on the ground, the named person for licensing, safety and commercial performance, and the primary client-facing contact during delivery.
This is a senior leadership role with the autonomy and accountability that goes with it.
The role
Take handover of confirmed events and develop the operational plan: bars, staffing, stock, cash, set-up, break-down
Lead the event on the ground from set-up through trading to break-down
Hold full licensing accountability as DPM, including handling Police and Licensing Standards inspections
Deliver the event to budget and to the agreed commercial outcome for the client
Build and lead the event team: Assistant Event Managers, Team Leaders, Event Staff
Be the senior Apex point of contact for the client and venue during delivery
Conduct the full post-event reconciliation and debrief
What we offer
£16 to £18 per hour (depending on experience and event portfolio), plus 12.07% rolled-up holiday pay
Real autonomy and ownership of your events, with Director-level support behind you
Funded First Aid at Work, IOSH and other professional qualifications
Progression to Senior Event Manager --> Operations Manager
Pension, sick pay, expenses paid
Be part of building one of Scotland's most exciting new event hospitality operators from the ground up
What we're looking for
Current SCPLH personal licence (essential at appointment)
Significant operational experience in licensed hospitality: events, multi-site or large venue background
Demonstrable cash, commercial and team accountability in a previous role
Strong working knowledge of the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 and DPM duties
Experience leading teams of 10+ in high-pressure operational environments
Comfortable in a client-facing role, representing the company to senior contacts
First Aid at Work, IOSH Managing Safely (or willingness to obtain within first three months; Apex funds)
Driving licence and own transport (essential for several Apex venues)
Outdoor or temporary events experience, cellar and gas safety qualifications, food hygiene, P&L exposure, and existing Scottish event sector relationships are all strongly desirable
Right to work in the UK
