Glasgow Marriott Hotel is looking for a Finance Assistant to join our Finance team. This is a full-time, on-site role based at the hotel, offering an excellent opportunity for someone with finance or accounts experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced hospitality environment and is looking to develop their career with a globally recognised hotel brand.

Working closely with the Finance Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the hotel's finance function, maintaining accurate financial records and supporting compliance with Marriott's high audit and financial standards.

What you'll be doing

As Finance Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

Accounts Receivable & Credit Control

  • Managing the sales ledger and issuing customer invoices
  • Monitoring outstanding debt and proactively chasing overdue payments
  • Allocating customer payments received into the bank
  • Resolving customer queries and disputes
  • Processing credit notes where appropriate
  • Organising and recording monthly credit meetings

Revenue Control

  • Reviewing rebates, refunds, complimentary rooms, no-shows, upgrades, cancellations and rate changes to ensure compliance with Marriott policies
  • Monitoring petty cash transactions and ensuring accurate posting

Accounts Payable

  • Processing supplier invoices accurately and on time
  • Ensuring invoices are correctly authorised and coded
  • Maintaining purchase order records
  • Reconciling supplier statements
  • Setting up new supplier accounts

Cashiering

  • Managing cash floats and change requirements
  • Preparing cash deposits and maintaining adequate cash levels

Month-End & Finance Support

  • Assisting with balance sheet reconciliations and month-end processes
  • Posting journals and maintaining supporting documentation
  • Supporting internal and external audits
  • Investigating cash and credit card discrepancies
  • Managing credit card chargebacks
  • Producing daily revenue reports
  • Updating finance tracking reports
  • Assisting with stock counts and other finance projects

 

About You

We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, organised and eager to learn. Previous experience in a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant or similar finance role is essential, with hospitality experience being an advantage.

You'll also have:

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence working with customers, suppliers and colleagues
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • A willingness to follow procedures and maintain high audit standards
  • A proactive and hands-on approach
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A positive attitude and desire to develop your career

Experience with Opera PMS, Micros or similar hotel systems would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training will be provided.
