Are you a commercially minded sales professional who thrives on building relationships, identifying opportunities, and winning new business?

The Glasgow Marriott Hotel is looking for an ambitious and proactive Senior Sales Executive to join our Sales team and help drive the hotel's continued commercial success.

Reporting to the Director of Sales, you'll focus on developing new business, growing corporate accounts, and generating meetings and events revenue. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys being out in the market, building connections and turning opportunities into results.

About Glasgow Marriott Hotel

Located in the heart of Glasgow, our hotel offers contemporary accommodation, versatile meeting and event facilities, and the renowned service of the Marriott brand.

Following our extensive refurbishment, we're focused on strengthening our position in Glasgow's competitive hospitality market. It's an exciting time to join our team and play a key role in our commercial growth.

The Opportunity

As Senior Sales Executive, you'll drive proactive sales activity, identify new revenue opportunities, and develop lasting relationships with corporate clients, agencies, and event organisers.

Working closely with the Director of Sales, you'll help grow market share, develop target accounts and convert opportunities into profitable business. From prospecting and client visits to networking, site inspections, and negotiations, you'll be at the forefront of our sales activity.

Key Responsibilities

New Business Development

  • Identify, prospect and secure new business across corporate accommodation, meetings, conferences, events, and banqueting.
  • Build and manage a strong sales pipeline through targeted outreach, networking, referrals, and client meetings.
  • Conduct external sales appointments, presentations, and site inspections to generate new business.
  • Research market trends, competitor activity, and local opportunities to identify potential revenue streams.

Account Management & Relationships

  • Develop and maintain relationships with corporate clients, agencies, event organisers, and key decisionmakers.
  • Grow existing accounts through proactive engagement, account development plans, and increased business opportunities.
  • Represent the hotel at networking events, exhibitions, and industry functions, building a strong presence within Glasgow's business community.

Commercial Performance

  • Work towards agreed sales activity, revenue, and conversion targets, taking ownership of individual performance.
  • Prepare proposals, negotiate agreements, and secure profitable business.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, sales forecasts, account plans, and pipeline reporting.
  • Support the Director of Sales in delivering the hotel's commercial strategy and identifying opportunities to grow market share.

Collaboration & Client Experience

  • Work closely with Revenue Management, Events and Operations to maximise opportunities and ensure a smooth client journey.
  • Support client visits, familiarisation trips, and hotel showcase events.
  • Act as an ambassador for the Glasgow Marriott Hotel, delivering an excellent experience at every stage of the client relationship.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a confident, motivated, and commercially aware individual with a passion for building relationships and winning new business.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • Experience in sales, business development, or account management.
  • A proven ability to identify, develop and convert new business opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach with a strong focus on achieving targets.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to identify opportunities for revenue growth.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Confidence using CRM systems and Microsoft Office.
  • A collaborative approach, with a willingness to travel for client meetings and networking events.

Hotel sales, corporate accounts or meetings and events experience would be advantageous. However, we also welcome candidates with strong business development experience from other sectors who are passionate about hospitality.

Above all, we're looking for someone with initiative, energy, and the drive to make a genuine commercial impact.

Working Pattern & Flexibility

This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position based on property at the Glasgow Marriott Hotel, generally following a Monday-to-Friday pattern, with typical hours of 9.00am–5.30pm.

Flexibility is essential, as the role involves regular external client appointments, business development activities and occasional early-morning breakfasts, evening networking events, and client entertainment. You'll balance time on property with time in the market to maximise opportunities and build strong commercial relationships.
