Job Purpose

To prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for patrons, to make recommendations and to provide an excellent service for members and guests in line with the standard operating procedures of the club.

Outline of Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and escort members and guests to their tables
  • Present menu and provide detailed information when asked (portions, ingredients, potential food allergies)
  • Prepare tables by setting up linens, silverware and glasses or as directed
  • Inform members and guests about the day’s specials
  • Offer menu recommendations upon request
  • Up-sell additional products when appropriate
  • Take accurate food and drinks orders, using order slips
  • Making high quality coffee with exceptional coffee art consistently
  • Serve beverages with the correct etiquette
  • Place orders through the NorthStar POS
  • Serve food and drink orders with care and grace
  • Check dishes and kitchenware for cleanliness and presentation and report any problems
  • Arrange table settings and maintain a tidy dining area
  • Table maintenance
  • Deliver checks and collect bill payments
  • Carry dirty plates, glasses and silverware to kitchen for cleaning
  • Meet with restaurant staff to review daily specials, changes on the menu and service specifications for reservations (events and private hires)
  • Provide excellent customer service to guests
  • To show sense of urgency during busy times
  • To handle events
  • To respond to any changes in the club as dictated by the needs of the industry, company or club operation
  • To multitask and help the team if needed

General Responsibilities

  • To be flexible and extend job duties to carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the job capability as assigned, including redeployment to alternative floor/areas if required, to meet business demands and guest service needs
  • Assist in the training of new starters
  • To attend training sessions when required
  • To follow the steps of service of the mystery guest in the operation
  • To be a team player by helping colleagues and being positive
  • To adhere to company practices and procedures at all times in particular those relating to discipline, and Health and Safety
  • To assist any guests who may have special needs in moving around the building
  • To promptly report any customer complaints to the Manager on duty
  • To ensure good communication with all colleagues, supervisors and the kitchen
  • To handle lost property
  • To clean the coffee machine thoroughly
  • To open/close the floor according the closing or opening checklist
  • To record fridge temperature daily and twice a day
