Description
We are looking for a talented, assertive, and experienced General Manager to join our team at Antique Bar and Bakery. This is an opportunity to become a part of an incredible team that is creating something entirely new to the NYC/Hoboken restaurant scene. We need you to come to work ready to steer this ship of creative and dedicated pros who are loyal, devoted and relentless. We are looking for a resourceful, independent leader who can execute without needing excessive oversight. Initiative, professionalism and an natural desire to execute should describe you. As well as a soft spot for the music, culture and vibe of the 70's. You will manage all day to day operations under the guidance of the Chef and restaurant Partners.

Antique Bar & Bakery is a new restaurant in a century old Hoboken landmark boasting a 30 ton coal oven built of porcelain brick. For a hundred years, the 400 square-foot hearth produced the famous "Hoboken Sticks" for generations; bread so prized Sinatra would have suitcases of the stuff flown from the sixth borough. Chef Paul Gerard, filmmaker Joseph Castelo and nightlife impresario Rocco Ancarola preserved the Hoboken heirloom to keep the fire burning, adding a flare of fun with a decor designed around their lasting impressions of the super seventies.

The food is prepared with the flavors and technique of peasant Italian and French cooking. When people ask Chef Paul how the coal oven affects the flavor of his food his answer is always “it tastes like a memory - the fire triggers a nostalgia that is part of our DNA.” And memories, the ones we gave and the ones we’re creating, are a major part of ABB ethos. Chef Paul cooks what he refers to as “3 chord cuisine” frank food founded in classic chords converted to simple riffs. Like a Ramones song, it hits you with memorable notes that are impressive presented with simplicity.

Chef Paul designed Antique with a flare of fun and a decor designed around their lasting impressions of the super seventies. Fornasetti credenzas, Capodimonte centerpieces, Culver glassware, wood paneling, and swag lights brighten up rows of books and shots of icons that moved us through the mid century marching in the name of equality and art. The space features an open-air kitchen that uses the original, century old, iconic, coal-stoked oven as its centerpiece. Lovingly built upon a foundation of local tradition, Antique is a bright new destination preparing exquisite yet simple food with that reveres the nobility of the past.
