Chef de Partie – The Brackenrigg Inn by Another Place, The Lake

We’re looking for a Chef de Partie to join our team this summer.

With a passion for great food and service, you’ll take pride in your cooking, keep the kitchen running smoothly, and consistently deliver high-quality dishes.

We believe in a healthy work-life balance, helping you develop your skills, and giving you room to grow in a place you can feel proud to work in. Joining our team means being part of a community that values excellence, innovation, and kindness in everything we do.

As our Chef de Partie you’ll be:

  • Supporting our team in running a well-organised, efficient kitchen, helping ensure the team works to consistent standards.
  • Preparing, cooking, and portioning dishes (including staff meals) to pub standards for quality and presentation.
  • Maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness and hygiene across all kitchen and back-of-house areas.
  • Following instructions from our senior chefs and contributing to a smooth daily service.
  • Helping with prep in line with expected business levels and service needs.
  • Completing daily checklists, temperature logs, and other kitchen records accurately.
  • Assisting with stock rotation and topping up stations as needed.
  • Taking part in all general kitchen duties, including prep, storage, and service.
  • Keeping your own work area clean, organised, and safe at all times, supporting a safe environment for the whole team.

The skills you’ll be sharing with us:

  • Food Hygiene certificate or training
  • NVQ Level 1 & 2 (or equivalent) as a minimum
  • Previous experience in a busy kitchen environment
  • A genuine passion for food and the hospitality industry
  • Good understanding of ingredients, with a creative approach to using them
  • Able to stay calm and effective under pressure during busy service
  • Flexible attitude towards working hours and shift patterns
  • Keen to learn, develop, and grow within the role
  • Reliable, punctual, and responsible
  • Professional appearance and attitude
  • Strong time management skills
  • A team-focused approach with a willingness to support others

Why us?

Local food and drink, roaring fires, lively conversation and contemporary en-suite rooms wait for guests, locals and walkers in our relaxed and inviting Cumbrian pub. Renowned for its elevated views over Ullswater, refreshing pints in the sun, and truly unbeatable pies, the Brackenrigg Inn takes inviting to a whole new level.

With a team that values connection, flexibility, variety, and challenge, we're all about making a meaningful impact and know what it means to go above and beyond for our team and guests.

It’s a place to gather, meet new friends, and get stuck in. That’s The Brackenrigg Inn.

What we can offer in return:

  • A relaxed, professional working environment in a great location, just five minutes’ walk from our Another Place, The Lake hotel
  • Straight shifts with a 45-hour working week
  • Any overtime paid at an hourly rate
  • A team bus operating between Penrith and The Brackenrigg Inn
  • Uniform provided and laundered
  • Opportunities for career progression within a growing organisation
  • Team discounts across our accommodation, food, and leisure facilities
  • Regular team social events
  • Access to a confidential employee support scheme for wellbeing and practical advice

From discounted stays to training and development opportunities, we're all about helping our team achieve their personal and professional goals. Located in 18 acres of Lake District National Park, you'll never be short on inspiration.
