Senior House Manager – Another Place, The Lake | House and Duty Managers, Full-time (40hrs per week)

Set on the shores of Ullswater, Another Place, The Lake combines contemporary comfort, outdoor adventure and great food in a spectacular Lake District setting.

Within 18 acres of Lake District National Park, Another Place offers a unique setting where how our guests feel is just as important as what they do. Making people feel welcome, cared for and looked after is at the heart of our approach, and it’s our team who bring it to life.

Our Senior House Manager role

Do you notice the little things that make a big difference? Do you enjoy inspiring teams and creating memorable guest experiences?

We’re looking for a Senior House Manager with a passion for hospitality and a natural flair for leadership.

Working alongside our Guest Experience Manager, you’ll lead our Front Desk, Swim Club, treatment and Night House Manager teams, developing people, delivering exceptional service and driving departmental performance.

You’ll encourage your team to take ownership, use their initiative and find opportunities to improve the guest experience and grow revenue.

When our Guest Experience Manager is away, you’ll take the lead, keeping things running smoothly. It’s a varied role with plenty of opportunity to grow your skills and make your mark.

As our Senior House Manager, you’ll be:

  • Leading and developing people: Coaching House Managers and the team, supporting recruitment and training, and creating a positive environment where everyone feels valued.
  • Creating memorable experiences: Leading our teams to deliver warm, attentive service, anticipating guest needs and resolving feedback or complaints with care and confidence.
  • Keeping things running smoothly: Supporting daily operations, team rotas and service standards, working closely with other departments.
  • Driving standards and improvements: Encouraging fresh ideas, using guest feedback to identify opportunities and ensuring health and safety procedures are followed.
  • Supporting commercial success: Contributing to departmental budgets, revenue targets and operational performance, identifying opportunities across Swim Club, treatments and our wider guest offering.
  • Taking the lead when needed: Making confident decisions and supporting the wider management team in the absence of our Guest Experience Manager.

The skills you’ll be sharing with us

We’re looking for someone who enjoys looking after people and helping others succeed. You’ll ideally bring:

  • Previous experience in a Front of House management or similar hospitality leadership role.
  • The ability to lead, motivate, coach and develop a team.
  • A passion for hospitality and memorable guest experiences.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence in handling challenges and guest feedback.
  • A proactive, organised approach, with excellent attention to detail and prioritisation skills.
  • Experience using hotel property management and booking systems.
  • An understanding of departmental budgets, revenue and operational performance.
  • The flexibility to stay calm, positive and hands-on in a busy environment.

Experience in spa, leisure or wellness operations would be an advantage, as would relevant First Aid or health and safety qualifications.

Most importantly, you’ll bring warmth, enthusiasm and a genuine interest in people. You’ll notice what needs doing, care about getting it right and look for ways to make things better for our guests and team.

What we can offer in return

We believe looking after our team is just as important as looking after our guests. Joining Another Place means becoming part of a supportive team, with opportunities to develop your career and enjoy our beautiful location.

  • A beautiful place to work: A relaxed, professional environment on the shores of Ullswater.
  • Room to grow: Excellent career prospects within an expanding organisation, with opportunities for training and development.
  • Enjoy more for less: Special rates for you, your friends and family to stay at our hotels.
  • Make the most of Swim Club: Team discounts on treatments.
  • Eat well for less: Discounts for you, your friends and family at Rampsbeck, Living Space, Glasshouse and The Brackenrigg.
  • Team social events throughout the year.
  • Access to our team assistance scheme, with support on everything from mental health and wellbeing to managing your finances.

With the lake and fells on your doorstep, there’s plenty of opportunity for paddleboarding, hill walking and enjoying the natural beauty around you.

A place to grow

At Another Place, we’re a community of people who care about what they do, notice the details that matter and aren’t afraid to change things for the better.

As Senior House Manager, you’ll develop future leaders, shape how our teams work and create experiences our guests remember for a lifetime, while building your own career in hospitality.

Ready to lead with warmth, inspire a team and make a real difference? We’d love to hear from you. Apply today and join us at Another Place, The Lake.
