Description

Level 3 Early Years Practitioner | Outdoor Learning at Another Place, The Lake | Team bus operating daily from Penrith

Spend less time on paperwork and more time doing what you love – helping children learn through play.

Imagine working somewhere where the outdoors is your classroom, creativity is encouraged, and every day is different.

At Another Place, The Lake, we believe children learn best through exploration, imagination and play. That's why we'd rather spend our time creating memorable experiences than endless paperwork-based assessments.

Our Ofsted-registered Kids' Zone, set on the shores of Ullswater, provides childcare for hotel guests and local families. From babies aged six months to adventurous 12-year-olds, we create a safe, welcoming space where children can play, discover and make lasting memories.

We're looking for an experienced Level 3 Early Years Practitioner who shares our passion for outdoor play, creativity and child-led learning.

Why you'll love working here

  • Spend more time with children and less time behind a desk
  • Beautiful lakeside setting in the Lake District
  • Outdoor learning at the heart of every day
  • Friendly, supportive team with the freedom to share ideas
  • Every day is different
  • Daily team transport to and from the hotel via Penrith train station
  • Monthly share of hotel tips

What you'll be doing

No two days are the same. You'll lead engaging indoor and outdoor play sessions, inspire children through creative activities, and help create memorable experiences for families staying at the hotel.

You'll also:

  • Deliver high-quality play sessions for children aged 6 months to 12 years
  • Ensure our Kids' Zone meets Ofsted requirements
  • Build great relationships with children, parents and colleagues
  • Support children's safety and wellbeing
  • Complete essential daily records
  • Work a mix of day and evening shifts, including weekends and bank holidays
  • Occasionally provide babysitting for hotel guests

What we're looking for

You'll have:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Childcare (or an Ofsted-recognised equivalent)
  • Experience in an early years or childcare setting
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety and child development
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A calm, positive and flexible approach
  • A genuine passion for helping children learn through play

Hospitality experience is a bonus but isn't essential and an enhanced DBS check will also be completed upon employment. We actively encourage use of the gov.uk ‘check an early years qualification’ tool to confirm relevant qualification suitability.

What you'll receive

  • Competitive salary plus monthly share of hotel tips
  • A relaxed workplace in one of the UK's most beautiful locations
  • Discounts on stays, restaurants, spa treatments and lake activities
  • Birthday off after 12 months
  • Healthcare cash plan after six months
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Ongoing training and development
  • Free onsite parking
