Description

Senior Level 3 Early Years & Childcare Practitioner | Outdoor Learning and Play in Ullswater, Lake District | Full-time

Offering monthly tips, free paddleboard hire, discounted meals and free team parking, all on the shores of Ullswater with one unforgettable view.

We operate a team bus operating daily between Penrith train station and our hotel, making this role suitable for non-drivers.

Want to do childcare somewhere a little different?

Imagine spending your working day helping children explore, play and discover in one of the UK's most beautiful settings.

At Another Place, The Lake, our Ofsted-registered Kids' Zone sits on the shores of Ullswater in the Lake District and we're looking for a qualified Level 3 Early Years & Childcare Practitioner to join our friendly team.

This isn't a traditional nursery environment. You'll work with small groups of children from 6 months to 12 years, with outdoor play, creativity and child-led learning at the heart of what we do.

Why you'll love it

  • £13.25 per hour, plus a monthly share of hotel tips
  • Daily team transport from Penrith train station to the hotel
  • A beautiful lakeside working environment
  • Outdoor learning and play as part of everyday life
  • A varied role working with children across a wide age range
  • A supportive team where you're encouraged to bring your ideas to our sessions, making each day different
  • Less time spent on paperwork and more time working directly with children
  • Free onsite parking
  • Discounts on hotel stays, restaurants, spa treatments and lake activities
  • Your birthday off after 12 months of service, plus You Days for volunteering and learning new skills
  • A healthcare cash plan after six months
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Ongoing training and development guided by you

What you'll be doing

Every day is different in our Kids' Zone. You'll create engaging experiences that encourage children to explore, be curious and have fun, both indoors and outdoors.

You'll:

  • Plan and deliver engaging play and learning activities for children aged 6 months to 12 years
  • Create a safe, welcoming and stimulating environment
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues
  • Support children's safety, wellbeing and development
  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety and Ofsted requirements
  • Complete essential daily records and handovers
  • Work a rota including some weekends, evenings and bank holidays
  • Have the opportunity to provide additional paid babysitting for hotel guests, if desired

What we're looking for

You'll have:

  • A recognised Level 3 Early Years/Childcare qualification or equivalent that meets Ofsted requirements (you can check your qualifications at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/check-an-early-years-qualification)
  • Experience working in an early years or childcare setting
  • A good understanding of safeguarding, child development, health and safety
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A calm, positive and flexible approach
  • A genuine passion for helping children learn through play

Hospitality experience isn't essential in this role - we're more interested in your childcare experience, personality and enthusiasm.

An enhanced DBS check will be completed as part of the employment process.

Ready for something different?

If you're a qualified childcare professional looking for a role where you can spend more time with children, embrace outdoor learning and work somewhere truly special, we'd love to hear from you.
