Maintenance Assistant – Another Place, The Lake | Maintenance

Spending time with the people who matter, taking a moment to relax, enjoying the fresh air on your face, and sharing good food and conversation.

We believe happiness can come from the simplest of things.

Working with us means becoming part of the Another Place, The Lake experience. We cultivate an outlook on life, paired with a drive for growth, and create a balance that you can truly feel.

We believe friendship, connection, flexibility, variety and challenge make our work more meaningful and enjoyable, and we work together to ensure our guests and team feel cared for, supported and relaxed.

Looking after our grounds, buildings and facilities, our small Maintenance department helps keep the hotel safe, welcoming and beautifully cared for and are essential to our team.

Our Maintenance Assistant role:

We’re looking for a Maintenance Assistant to report to our Facilities Manager. You’ll work alongside our team attending to tasks such as grounds maintenance, machinery maintenance, and practical maintenance.

You’ll also have a blend of responsibilities and will be on hand to ensure that our hotel is safe, compliant, and welcoming for team and guests, and be operating on a 40-hours per week basis.

As our Maintenance Assistant you'll:

  • Support general repairs and maintenance tasks across the hotel.
  • Assist with carpentry, painting, decorating, and plumbing as required.
  • Help with preventative, planned, and reactive maintenance.
  • Prepare rooms and spaces for events.
  • Participate in occasional sustainability projects.
  • Provide maintenance support seven days a week as part of the team.
  • Drive the company vehicle as part of our team transport service.
  • Welcome and assist guests and colleagues professionally.
  • Maintain departmental standards on a daily basis.
  • Complete requests logged in the maintenance system in a timely manner.
  • Ensure supplies, such as light bulbs and emergency tool kits, are correctly stocked.
  • Follow all health and safety requirements and use the correct PPE.
  • Report any health and safety issues to the Facilities Manager.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as required.

The skills you’ll be sharing with us:

  • Experience in a similar industry, preferably hospitality
  • Knowledge of current health and safety legislation
  • Ability to diagnose and repair day-to-day mechanical and practical issues
  • Reliable, with the ability to follow instructions and take initiative when needed
  • Skilled in maintenance tasks such as re-decoration, electrics, basic plumbing, and tiling
  • Computer literate
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Full, clean driving licence

What we can offer in return:

  • A relaxed, professional place to work in a beautiful location – right on the shores of Ullswater
  • Excellent career prospects in an ever-expanding organisation
  • Special rates for you and your friends & family to stay at Another Place and Watergate Bay Hotel
  • Team discounts on treatments in Swim Club
  • Discounts for you and your friends & family to eat at our restaurants: at Rampsbeck, Living Space and Glasshouse
  • Team social events throughout the year
  • Team assistance scheme – a dedicated helpline for support & advice on topics from mental health through to managing your finances

Our commitment to our team is reflected in our exceptional working environment - one that promotes a work-life balance, professional development, and plenty of opportunities for growth. You’ll also have paddleboarding, hill walking, and an abundance of natural beauty right on your doorstep.

From discounted stays to training and development opportunities, we're all about helping our team achieve their personal and professional goals. Located in 18 acres of Lake District National Park, you'll never be short on inspiration. Working at Another Place isn't just a job - it's a transformative career opportunity.
