Located on the Hauser & Wirth site in Bruton, Somerset, we have a new Roth Bar & Restaurant, Farm Shop & The Farmhouse alongside Roundhill Grange estate. Founded in 2014 by Iwan and Manuela Wirth, Artfarm’s core values combine art, community, and sustainability. By adapting and developing one-of-a-kind sites through exceptional design, site-specific art instillations and programmes that animate our destinations and inspire learning, Artfarm seeks to create sustainable legacies weaving together people and place.

As we approach the 10-year anniversary of Artfarm we are now looking for a Head of Operations to drive the business forward. Roth Bar has been reimagined as a new fully functioning, site-specific artwork which will open on 25th May 2024. Artist Oddur Roth, grandson of the late German-born Swiss artist Dieter Roth, lived and worked in Bruton, UK from January - March 2024. Alongside his team, Einar Roth, Bjarni Grímsson, Thrandur Gíslason Roth and Gudmundur Oddur Magnusson, they reimagined Roth Bar. Inspired by the history of Durslade Farm, Roth Bar in Somerset is composed of salvaged materials and objects from reclamation yards in the surrounding area.

A busy, fast-paced operation which is open 7 days a week, Roth Bar & Restaurant will reopen to a new menu concept, some outstanding cocktails and our renowned hospitality. Loved by both locals and visitors alike, this vibrant and welcoming restaurant & bar serves food from our adjacent farm as well as partnering with local farmers, growers and makers to provide fresh, seasonal produce with a focus on sustainability. Roth Bar, the Restaurant and Roundhill will also host site-wide events throughout the year which engage the local community and provide a focal point for key occasions in Bruton.

The nearby Farmhouse is rented as a whole, sleeping 12 guests and is a popular destination throughout the year for both short and longer breaks.

In both properties, our focus is our guests and providing a welcoming, friendly yet high standard of service. Applicants must be confident, dynamic, motivated, and a proven leader with a passion for hospitality.

Responsibilities: 

You will have overall responsibility for the management of the business, including resource planning, embedding company strategy, and driving profitable growth. With the restaurant, neighbouring Farmhouse and proximity to both the Farm Shop and the Hauser & Wirth Gallery, the location offers great opportunity in its complexity.

Day-to-day, our Head Of Operations will oversee operations of the sites whilst closely liaising with our colleagues at Hauser & Wirth and the wider Artfarm team. Setting standards of excellence in an operationally effective environment, with exceptional guest experience and customer journey at the forefront. The role assumes ultimate responsibility for the P&L, ensuring company systems and procedures are followed to increase efficiency and profitability. Lead from the front to embed quality service and company operational standards in all staff. Productivity, performance and presentation are fundamental to your success in this role as is representation within the local community as a key figurehead and advocate of our values.
