With inspiring interiors by Kelly Wearstler and culinary offerings in collaboration with MML Hospitality, Austin Proper offers 238 rooms and suites, a dedicated spa and fitness center, and 9,500 square feet of meeting and event spaces, including a rooftop pool deck offering small-batch tequilas and majestic lake views. Anything less just wouldn’t be Proper.

 

Job Overview

The Bell Attendant is responsible for providing exceptional guest service by assisting with the arrival and departure process, handling luggage, and ensuring a seamless and memorable guest experience. This role requires a friendly and professional demeanor, excellent communication skills, and a strong commitment to guest satisfaction. The Bell Attendant plays a crucial role in creating a positive and lasting impression on our guests. They are expected to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and service excellence.


Responsibilities & Duties

  • Greet arriving and departing guests with a warm and welcoming attitude.
  • Assist guests with their luggage, escort them to their rooms, and explain hotel amenities, facilities, and services.
  • Provide information about local attractions, restaurants, and transportation options.
  • Safely and efficiently handle guests' luggage, ensuring it is delivered to their rooms promptly.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the bell stand and luggage storage areas.
  • Assist in maintaining a neat and organized valet parking area.
  • Be vigilant and report any suspicious activity or safety concerns to hotel security or management.
  • Ensure that all guest belongings are handled with care and confidentiality.
  • Maintain clear and open communication with the Front Desk, Concierge, and other hotel departments to ensure guests' needs are met promptly.
  • Relay guest requests and preferences to relevant staff members.
  • Keep the lobby and entrance areas clean, organized, and presentable.
  • Strive to exceed guest expectations by providing exceptional service.
  • Act as a knowledgeable resource for guests, offering suggestions and assistance as required.
  • Follow all safety and security protocols to ensure the safety of guests, colleagues, and property.
  • Always adhere to hotel policies and procedures.
  • Work cooperatively with fellow bell attendants and colleagues in other departments to ensure a seamless guest experience.


Education & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a similar role at a luxury hotel is preferred.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Strong physical fitness and the ability to lift and carry heavy luggage.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Knowledge of the local area and attractions.
  • Basic computer skills for logging guest information and requests.
  • Mobility to move around the hotel, including stairs and elevators.
  • Stand or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift.
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping and lift heavy luggage (up to 50 pounds).
  • Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
