Situated in Downtown’s Second Street District, Austin Proper Hotel & Residences is the newest luxury lifestyle hotel in Austin, just steps from Lady Bird Lake, the legendary Austin City Limits music venue and nearby boutiques. With inspiring interiors by Kelly Wearstler and culinary offerings in collaboration with MML Hospitality, Austin Proper offers 238 rooms and suites, a dedicated spa and fitness center, and 9,500 square feet of meeting and event spaces, including a rooftop pool deck offering small-batch tequilas and majestic lake views. Anything less just wouldn’t be Proper. 

Located on the Austin Proper Hotel’s 4th Floor, the Verbena Spa and Saracen Gym is an urban getaway that welcomes all with full-service pampering. With a private reception to discuss guests’ needs. The spa also includes a soothing lounge, five spa treatment rooms, a men’s and women’s locker rooms with steam showers, and a brand new recovery room featuring cold plunge and red light therapy.

 

Job Overview

As a Spa & Gym Attendant at the Verbena Spa & Saracen Gym, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest level of service and satisfaction for our guests. Your responsibilities will primarily revolve around assisting guests with their needs within the spa and gym facilities, maintaining cleanliness and organization, and upholding the luxurious standards for which our spa is known.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet guests warmly upon arrival and assist them with any inquiries or requests.
  • Provide tours of the spa and gym facilities, highlighting amenities and services.
  • Maintain laundering and cleanliness of all spa linens
  • Knowledgeable of spa services including spa treatments, fitness classes, and personal training sessions.
  • Ensure guests are comfortable and have everything they need during their visit.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness throughout the spa and gym areas, including locker rooms, treatment rooms, fitness equipment, and common areas.
  • Regularly restock supplies such as towels, robes, toiletries, and refreshments.
  • Monitor and maintain the functionality of spa and gym equipment, promptly reporting any issues to maintenance staff.
  • Enforce safety and hygiene protocols to ensure the well-being of guests and staff.
  • Familiarize yourself with emergency procedures and act swiftly and responsibly in case of emergencies.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including sanitation standards and proper handling of equipment and chemicals.
  • Build rapport with guests and anticipate their needs, providing personalized recommendations and assistance.
  • Promote spa services and memberships, and retail products to guests, effectively communicating their benefits.
  • Solicit feedback from guests to ensure their satisfaction and make suggestions for improvement when appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with other spa and gym staff members to deliver seamless service and maintain a cohesive team environment.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and management to address any issues or concerns that may arise.
  • Participate in training sessions and staff meetings to continuously enhance your skills and knowledge.

 

Education & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency
  • Minimum one year experience in a similar role, preferably in a luxury spa or hospitality environment.
  • Knowledge of spa treatments, products, and wellness practices is advantageous.
  • Must be at least 18 years’ old
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States


Required Skills & Abilities

  • Exceptional customer service skills with a genuine passion for exceeding guest expectations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with a professional and polished demeanor.
  • Ability to safely use basic laundry machinery and chemicals.
  • Basic knowledge of spa treatments, fitness equipment, and wellness practices.
  • Ability to multitask efficiently, while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Composure in high-pressure situations
  • Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels
  • Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems
  • Demonstrate ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
  • Develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships with other colleagues and departments
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance
  • Stand or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift.
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
