The Role
Teppanyaki Cooks are an important part of the team. Every member of this team should maintain positive and hands-on attitude. Must be solutions driven and have an interactive leadership style. Excellent food knowledge and a working understanding of every menu item are necessary to effectively train and develop the staff. Azumi’s volume demands that every Cook be involved in each shift so sound time management skills must be practiced to ensure successful follow thru on all departmental responsibilities. A constant focus on safety and sanitation is necessary to maintain a safe and clean work environment. All costs associated with the production of food must constantly be analyzed to ensure maximum productivity and profit. Every member of the team is responsible for maintaining the quality standards set by Atlas Restaurant Group. All of these items are the responsibility of all the Teppanyaki Cooks.

The Requirements
As a Teppanyaki Cook, we would love you to have:
At least 1-2 years of related high-volume experience
A minimum of two years of culinary experience with Asian influences is required. Formal culinary training may substitute for this requirement at an equivalent rate.
Strong knowledge of all basic Asian cooking techniques is required.
Strong knowledge of Teppanyaki-style cooking philosophies and principles including but not limited to Chinese, Thai, and Japanese is required.
Ability to prepare all teppanyaki mise en place including starches, vegetables, trimming and cutting of proteins is required.
The abilityAzumi is Atlas Restaurant Group’s Japanese fine-dining restaurant located in Baltimore’s Harbor East neighborhood inside the Four Seasons Hotel. Opened in 2014 and named Best Japanese Restaurant by Baltimore Magazine, Azumi brings an uncompromising commitment to Japanese cuisine. Azumi features a diverse menu with a focus on upscale dishes and high-end ingredients from Tokyo’s famed Tsukiji Fish Market. Azumi is open for lunch Monday – Saturday and dinner Monday – Sunday. to captivate guests by cooking “on stage” is required.
Ability to verbally explain processes of history, preparation, and cooking techniques to guests while cooking is required.
Advanced level English verbal skills are required.
Maintains local health department food handler’s certification up to date and current
A passion for cooking, exceptional work ethic eye for detail and sense of urgency.
Able to perform in a team serving environment
Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays – REQUIRED
Ability to stand during entire shift
Ability to stand for extended periods, and lift 30+ lbs
