Description

We are looking for a highly energetic Maintenance Manager at The Barnsdale, Rutland.

Perched on the edge of Rutland Water, our 46‑bedroom hotel comes with postcard‑worthy views, a gorgeous courtyard and a seriously talented kitchen team cooking up fine dining using the best local produce. Surrounded by peaceful countryside and just a stone’s throw from the charming market towns of Oakham and Uppingham, it’s the kind of place guests escape to – and the team genuinely enjoy working in. Fresh air, great food, lovely surroundings and a fab team? Yes please.
Plus we offer free parking, and annual Tronc of about £3000 per year for a full-timer, and pro rata for part-time (paid monthly in your normal pay!).

Our 46-bedroom hotel overlooks the beautiful Rutland landscape with a picturesque courtyard, with a kitchen brigade providing fine dining using many ingredients sourced from the wealth of fine produce found in the locality. Encircled by idyllic surroundings on the north shore of Rutland Water, the hotel is a tranquil rural haven, close to the charming market towns of Oakham and Uppingham.

The Fixer. The Problem Solver. The Keeper of All Things Working.

We’re looking for the sort of person who can hear a strange noise from three rooms away, knows exactly which cupboard the spare parts are hiding in, and somehow manages to fix things before anyone else has even noticed they’re broken.

In short: we need a brilliant Maintenance Manager who can keep our little world ticking along beautifully.

 You’ll be…

The Keeper of the Castle
Looking after our buildings, facilities, grounds, gardens and car parks — making sure everything is safe, smart, well-maintained and looking its absolute best. No wonky tap, squeaky door or rebellious lightbulb is safe from you.

The Master of the Maintenance Plan
Keeping on top of regular maintenance, inspections and those all-important little jobs that stop little problems becoming very large and expensive problems.

The Emergency Hero
When something goes bang, drip, flicker or suddenly decides it no longer wants to work, you’ll be the calm in the storm. You’ll respond quickly, find a solution and keep any disruption to our guests firmly in the “minor inconvenience” category.

The Contractor Conductor
Bringing in the right tradespeople and contractors when a job needs a little more muscle. You’ll coordinate them, keep projects moving, make sure standards are met and, naturally, keep the paperwork in check too.

The Cost-Cutting Detective
Working closely with the General Manager and Facilities Manager to spot clever ways to improve the property, reduce costs, save energy and generally make things work smarter — without taking away any of the magic.

The Friendly Fixer
You’ll be dealing with everyone from our brilliant hotel team and contractors to visitors and guests. So, alongside your practical wizardry, you’ll bring a professional, helpful and friendly approach to everything you do.

If you’re the person people call when something breaks, goes wrong, looks a bit wonky or simply needs making better — we’d like to meet you. You’ll be an important part of keeping the property running beautifully behind the scenes, so our guests can simply enjoy the magic in front of them.

What We Offer

We think carefully about the experience of working with us, too.

  • Competitive salary (discussed on application)
  • 28 days’ holiday (including Bank Holidays), plus your birthday off
  • Ongoing training and clear opportunities to grow — including involvement in our new Learning & Comms platform, powered by All Gravy
  • The opportunity to move across the wider Signet Collection
  • Discounted stays and dining for you, your family and friends
  • Stream — access up to 40% of your pay before pay day, and save directly from your salary
  • A comprehensive Wellbeing Hub, powered by Hospitality Action — including 24/7 support, fitness, nutrition and counselling
  • Referral bonuses of up to £1,000
  • Long Service Awards — from memorable dinners to theatre experiences and stays across the collection
  • Complimentary meals on shift
  • Supplier trips, workshops and industry experiences

So, if you are dedicated to making each and every guest experience unequivocally brilliant, and have what it takes, we would love to meet you!
