Garment Technology Assistant

Purpose of the role:

Supports the Technical team in the smooth and commercial delivery of the Ben Sherman product range to drive profitable sales growth.  This role supports the management of the technical process to ensure that the collections, are developed and created to the standards of Ben Sherman clothing in terms of fit, performance and construction to business timeline, with the brand essence of the Ben Sherman Clothing, and in line with department and business expectations.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Updating and sending out fit schedule to all involved parties
  • Measure samples for fitting
  • Attend fit meetings and take notes
  • Type up basic fitting comments with supervision of Technical Manager
  • Evaluate and approve Gold seals
  • Manage the critical path – chase suppliers for test reports and AQL reports
  • Test report management – filing and cross referencing & update CP
  • AQL inspection management – filing and approving & update CP
  • Working towards taking supervised ownership of one product category
  • Evaluating and approving care labels
  • Spot checking production by request at the warehouse when needed.
  • Store visit to check and report back on general quality and issues on all Ben Sherman product categories

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Previous fashion or textiles experience or work placement an advantage
  • A keen interest to learn about garment construction & factory compliance
  • Some knowledge of garment manufacturing processes
  • Proactive with an ability to work on own initiative
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Strong communication skills over the phone, in writing and face-to-face
  • Very strong house-keeping and organisational skills
  • Time Management skills - Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Team player - ability to manage working relationships at all levels and be hands on supporting the department to achieve deadlines and high-quality level.
