Assistant Merchandiser - Off-Price & Wholesale

Purpose of the role:

As an Assistant Merchandiser you will play a vital role within our Merchandising teams. You will provide essential support to your department working closely with Buying, Sales and Logistics to help achieve all stock and budget requirements for the financial year.

Responsibilities:
Strategy:
  • Assist the Merchandiser to ensure all account strategies are executed in line with the departmental budget
  • Support the Merchandiser to communicate information effectively to all levels of the BSI management team
  • Support the Merchandiser with WSSI and cashflow submissions and ensure it is executed in line with departmental deadlines and budgets.
  • Assist the Merchandiser in Trading meetings with essential business reporting and analysis. Updating and maintaining the weekly sales and margin tracker, identifying any anomalies, and highlighting these to the Merchandiser.

Trade & Planning: 
  • Updating and maintaining the weekly sales and margin tracker, identifying any anomalies, and highlighting these to the Merchandiser.
  • Managing intake through daily communication with suppliers to ensure products are despatched to the agreed ex-factory date and all correct documentation is received including packing lists, invoices and OBL’s
  • Monitoring all stock intake for the relevant customer accounts and ensuring stock is processed in a timely manner and provide weekly updates to the customer accounts.
  • Provide the warehousing teams with weekly/monthly/quarterly intake updates to ensure an efficient flow of stock receipt and despatch.
  • Assist the Merchandiser with stock, sales, WSSI and cashflow.
  • Provide the finance team with weekly supplier payment overviews to ensure alignment with cashflow plan.
  • Producing size-scales and raising purchase orders (bulk and samples), barcodes and shipping labels (where appropriate).
  • System Maintenance including entering price lists, amending quantities and delivery dates when required.
  • Liaise with the logistics and shipping teams to ensure intake is delivered on time and in line with the critical path.
  • Creating customer documentation including commercial invoices and uploading to relevant customer systems
  • Liaise with the sales team and customers to ensure that they are fully updated on all deliveries and answer any relevant queries.

General skills: 
  • Strong excel skills. 
  • Highly numerate 
  • Good presentation skills 
  • Knowledge of critical path and product lifecycle of similar category • Commercially aware with interest in fashion retail industry 
  • Able to work both independently and within a small team. 
  • Ability to manage heavy workload and meet tight deadlines  

Performance Measures:

  • Achieving deadlines for reports
  • Having confidence in own decisions
  • Effective communication both internal and external
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
