KNEAD Hospitality + Design is seeking a talented Sous Chef for our flagship French concept, Bistro Du Jour Capitol Hill. As Sous Chef, you will support the Executive Chef and General Manager in leading all kitchen operations, ensuring consistency, quality, and execution across a classic and modern French menu. You will play a key role in mentoring the culinary team, maintaining standards, and driving a culture of excellence.

Qualifications:
• 5+ years of professional kitchen experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
• Previous experience as a Sous Chef or Chef de Cuisine preferred
• Strong foundation in French cuisine and classical technique preferred
• Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred, not required
• High level of organization and attention to detail
• Proven ability to lead, train, and develop a team
• Strong understanding of kitchen systems, prep, and service execution
• Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Knowledge of food cost control, labor management, and inventory systems
Responsibilities:
• Support daily kitchen operations alongside the Executive Chef
• Ensure all dishes meet Bistro Du Jour standards for quality and presentation
• Lead line checks, tasting, and service execution
• Train and develop culinary team members
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards
• Assist with ordering, inventory, and cost control
