Bistrotheque opened 17 years ago and was inspired by the humble French Bistro. We are located between Bethnal Green and Hackney, in a two-storey unmarked warehouse. Over time, we’ve built a loyal following of stylish East Londoners who appreciate quality and consistency. The team is small and friendly and we believe in mutual respect.
We looking for a sous chef who enjoys working in a fast-paced kitchen. Our aim would be to train you to work all section in the kitchen one by one and then to run the pass, which will also involve learning the kitchen management side of things. You will be actively involved in helping to train and nuture more junior members of the team.
35-40 hours per week, never more than 48 hours
Shifts will be Wednesday or Thursday to Sunday
Stable rota patterns by month
Minimum of 2 consecutive days off
6 weeks holiday, 4 of which are to be taken in August each year
E2, very close to Cambridge Heath Overground and a short walk to Bethnal Green Underground.
£12.00 per hour house pay plus generous tronc.
We expect this role to earn at least £17 per hour overall once tronc criteria is met.
At least 2 years experience in a quality/volume kitchen at Sous chef level. A passion for cooking & ingredients, as well as fast-paced kitchens, are musts. Consistency, attention to detail and a nurturing side are your trademarks. We are drawn to those keen to learn and progress, whilst also being team players and able to work within a framework. Ambitions to be a head chef are good and we can help you on that path. If you don't have it already, we will organise a Level 3 Food Hygiene course and exam within 3 months of starting.
