Cook for Black Lab Café in New York City:

Black Lab Coffee Inc. is looking for a cook to join its team. The position can be full time or part time. Part time would be 9:30 am to 2pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Full time will be roughly 40 hours per week. The job’s location will be the lower east side of Manhattan until April of 2022 when the job’s location will be at our new café on the upper west side of Manhattan. The pay will be between $15 and $30 per hour.

Responsibilities:

·       Follow instructions for preparing three fresh dog food recipes (Beef, Turkey and Chicken)

·       Follow recipes and prepare simple dishes

·       Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment

·       Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)

·       Cook food in various utensils or grillers

·       Check food while cooking to stir or turn

·       Weigh and measure ingredients

·       Check freshness and quality of ingredients

·       Mix all ingredients thoroughly and in their correct proportions

·       Label stock and inventory of all ingredients

·       Keep track of inventory for each ingredient

·       Ensure all food and other items are stored properly

·       Purchases ingredients when necessary

·       Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen

Requirements:

·       NYC food protection license

·       Ability to follow all sanitation procedures

·       2+ years of cooking experience

·       Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures

·       Be well versed in kitchen operations

·       Experienced in managing vendor relationships

·       Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks

·       Familiar with the industry’s best practices

·       Culinary school diploma - this is not officially required but having one would be a bonus

·       Ability to manage assistant chefs

·       Very good communication skills

·       Excellent physical condition and stamina

·       High school diploma or equivalent; Diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage

 

Work authorization:

·       United States

Supplemental Pay

·       Annual bonus

·       65% of health insurance coverage
