Description

A Bar Back supports bartenders and bar staff by keeping the bar fully stocked, clean, and organised. The role focuses on preparation and behind-the-scenes tasks so bartenders can serve customers quickly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Bar Support
  • Assist bartenders during busy service periods.

  • Refill ice bins, garnishes, glassware, and bar supplies.

  • Collect empty glasses from the bar area and tables.

Stock Management
  • Restock beer, wine, spirits, mixers, and bar ingredients.

  • Carry and store deliveries in the correct storage areas.

  • Rotate stock and report low inventory to the manager.

Cleaning & Organisation
  • Wash and polish glassware.

  • Keep the bar area, floor, and workstations clean and tidy.

  • Remove rubbish and recycling regularly.

Preparation
  • Prepare fruit garnishes (lemon, lime, orange, etc.).

  • Refill condiment trays and drink mixers.

  • Set up the bar before opening and assist with closing duties.

Health & Safety
  • Follow hygiene and sanitation standards.

  • Handle glassware and equipment safely.

  • Support responsible alcohol service policies.

Skills & Requirements
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Good teamwork and communication skills.

  • Physical stamina (lifting crates, standing long hours).

  • Attention to cleanliness and organisation.

  • Previous hospitality or bar experience is helpful but often not required.
